Andy Murray in Wimbledon final against Federer

Postby girlwithnoname » Fri Jul 06, 2012 1:47 pm

This was the matchup I was hoping for but didn't think we would get. I like Murray's chances, but Fed will likely get this one. Thoughts?

The British press and TV will be unbearable over the next couple of days and he's only in the final. Hopefully Federer will beat him in three.

Imagine how the press will be if Murray wins....

It's already started. I heard on the wireless some commentator straight after saying the whole nation will be watching as well as references to it being the greatest British sporting achievement since 1966 (although that's not that difficult, as we don't win anything). Yep, Federer must win at all costs. I want to see all those hoity-toity girls cry into their strawberries and cream, just like they have being doing ever since they started shouting "C'mon Tim/Andy".

Surprised our resident tennis expert and looser hasn't weighed in...

Probably wiping the stains off his Thomas Muster poster.

Now this is a well-constructed point, Billy.

I've run out of Muster posters so I'm currently staining my Richard Gasquet stash.

I expect Federer to win but it's hard to say. Federer may have blown his load (thanks for the inspiration Billy) beating Djokovic and Murray may have shot his wad just getting to the final. In the end I see Murray being overwhelmed by the occasion. That's my professional opinion GWNM.

If you weren't touched by Murray's tearful speech, you have a heart of stone. *sniff*

I am a cold, heartless fellow. He'll probably win it, one day, though.

I fancied the Fed in four but decided against investing after the financial disaster that was the Euros.
