I've spent a lot of time in these forums defending American Culture against the onslaught of limp-wristed attacks from toothless Brits.

This I cannot defend:

Slater's 50/50 is a trinity of Southern California burger joints best known for its eponymous 50/50 burger: 50% ground beef, 50% ground bacon.

To celebrate America's independence — more specifically, its independence from plaque-free arteries — the chain unveiled a Burger of the Month that substitutes the ground beef with — what else — more bacon.

That's right: The 'Merica burger is 100% ground bacon topped with a strip of bacon, bacon island dressing, bacon cheddar cheese, and, just for the hell of it, a fried egg.

It'll only be available during the month of July because, let's face it, all of Slater's patrons will be dead by August.

I just watched an episode of "Man vs. Food" that was filmed in Alaska. One place had a burger that was made with 2 one pound caribou patties, with one patty loaded with six slices of American cheese, and the other with six slices of cheddar cheese, 12 strips of bacon, and a pound of ham. That bastard was piled high about a foot. The best thing about this burger, according to the cook, was that the meat was "leaner than beef". WTF?
