Sherlock

Since we are discussing British Television Programmes, anyone here watch the first Season (or "Series") of Sherlock? I liked it quite a bit and was upset to find that there was only 3 episodes. I would have doled them out more carefully.

I believe Season 2 is slated to start in January, so there's that to look forward to.

Interesting side note: the actors playing Watson and Sherlock will both be in the upcoming film The Hobbit. (Which also looks like it will be great, BTW.)

Didn't know it had filtered through to the States yet, but I guess it would given that it is partly US funded. An unusually decent show amongst the endless crap on British TV. The new series starts in the UK this Sunday. Three 90 minute episodes again with The Hound(s) of the Baskervilles the second (my favourite Sherlock Holmes yarn per se and assuming that it will feature more than one hound judging by the title). Be interesting to see what they have done with that particular story as movie/TV wise it's been done to death over the years. The shortage of episodes is partly because of other commitments for the show's writers (Steven Moffat works on Dr Who for example).

Yeah, Benedict Cumberbatch is playing Smaug in The Hobbit so it'll be voice over. Martin Freeman will be Bilbo Baggins.

With the Force as his ally he did battle with the Dark Lord. And he showed the measure of a true Jedi at a place called "The Death Star" where hope for the Galaxy was reborn. May all who struggle against tyranny hold his memory in their hearts

If I had whatever he was taking back then I would definitely do drugs.

I thought it was quite good. There is currently some controversy here over the lovely Lara Pulver who appeared naked on screen while playing a dominatrix in the first episode A Scandal in Belgravia, although she [sadly] covered every bit up that would have been worth viewing. More than 100 cretins, I mean 100 BBC viewers, complained over Lara's naked back, body (with legs and arms crossed) and slightest view of her left breast in the show that you would have missed if you'd blinked. There was no nipple though. Yet, Benedict Cumberbatch bore his bare white buttocks for all to see. Oh, hang on, you are talking about Sherlock Holmes, the action movie. Are there any tits in that, other than Jude Law?

Watched the telly version, thought it was pretentious bollocks. Absolutely Fabulous followed, now who the fuck reckoned it was a good idea to revive that shite?

I can see why some people might think Sherlock is pretentious I suppose. And then the BBC will start slapping themselves on the back in celebration like they did with Doctor Who because it is one of the few watchable things that they make these days and gets all nice reviews in the newspapers. The same happened over Xmas with Great Expectations. I like it though, putting Sherlock Holmes in a modern context. As for Ab Fab, can't they come up with anything new? Julia Sawalha is in her 40s for christ sake. I didn't watch it as I thought it'd be shit too. Was she still playing that virgin daughter of the Jennifer Saunders character Edina and going to sixth form college with her friends, also all now in their 40s?

  soooo nicely put.
The costumes were the best actors in that film.

I like the telly Sherlock although I do find that Cumberbatch insipid and hard to take. That face wants a good smacking.
Love Martin Freeman, though.
Every word is like an unnecessary stain on silence and nothingness.

That show really needs to be brought back. The second one was a bit "meh" but 1 and 3 were really good.
