I have just downloaded a free animation package as good as commercial applications worth thousands of pounds. The problem is, the help files take too long to download on dial-up (off to the internet café next week) and the user interface is impenetrably complex without them.

Maybe you should complain to your ISP? Or write to the company that owns the software, explain your predicament and ask if they could send you the help files on a cd. I'm sure they'd be more than happy to help.

Are you also going to complain that it runs slowly on your Pentium 3?

Maybe spend the extra five pounds or whatever it is for a faster connection - for one month. Considering you are saving thousands of pounds - splurge.
