Haiti

Tired of discussing the Bunnymen and all the bands that have been influenced by them? This is the place for you.

Haiti

Postby withahip » Thu Jan 14, 2010 6:48 pm

So on CNN and MSNBC (24 cable enternews) I was blown away how the coerage about Haiti was about Anderson Cooper (CNN) and The Today Show Gang! (MSNBC) and how terribly this earthquake was affecting them - the coverage gave me no clearer insight into how the earthquake is being dealt with nationally and support from abroad.

Sorry - just felt the need to rant.

I heard Spain and the US have sent teams with rescue dogs and cadaver dogs. Red Cross is there from what I understand. The channels I saw spent more time one the blood running in the gutters. Shocking. But, yes, I want to hear about how they are being assisted also. At least CNN showed Dr. Sanjay Gupta helping people as he encountered them.

I want to donate, but I want to make sure it's a legit charity, not someone who set up something overnight to steal from us.

Red Cross is good--who else? Any ideas?

In all seriousness, text "HAITI" to 90999 and a donation of $10.00 will be made to the Red Cross, charged to your phone bill. From whitehouse.gov.

There is also a paypal button at the bottom of this page.

The Goodwill posted a list of legitimate charities one can choose from for making a donation. It's always a concern that one make a donation to a legit cause as opposed to contributing to a scam.

http://www.goodwill.org/statement/haiti ... -can-help/

One can also donate to the Salvation Army which has a relief center in Haiti. It has been damaged in the earthquake and they are sincere in their efforts to offer assistance without prejudice.

Text "Haiti" to 52000 if you would like to donate $10 to the Salvation Army. They send a verification message back.

For those who don't get it that is written in jest. That paypal button goes to Mr. Brian for all the work he put into making this site and maintaining it.

Apologies to those who understand that. (Yes, I'm pissed off.)

I might donate. After all, the victims seem to have had the self-respect to do something about their naps and look OK as they emerge from the rubble, so that deserves a reward.

My email inbox seems to be targeted by worthy causes at this moment, I'm afraid its a toss-up between Haiti and the Flip camera this month (HD of course).

Hmmm, tough call. Go with Haiti. It's good for your soul. ;) And good for others.

HD puts it over the edge there Billy. God understands.
With the Force as his ally he did battle with the Dark Lord. And he showed the measure of a true Jedi at a place called "The Death Star" where hope for the Galaxy was reborn. May all who struggle against tyranny hold his memory in their hearts
