It is true. There was also a bit of an uproar when a UK job centre advertised vacancies for lap dancers.

Under Germany’s welfare reforms, any woman under 55 who has been out of work for more than a year can be forced to take an available job - including in the sex industry - or lose her unemployment benefit :eek:

Just because it's legal doesn't mean it's moral and everyone wants to do it. This was one of the only options available to women 100 years ago and now it's apparently no better. So much for enlightenment.
