Quadrophenia

Postby Dr Cheese » Tue May 26, 2009 11:32 am

I saw Quadrophenia last night for the first time in about 20 years, I remember seeing it at the cinema when it was first released and thinking it was a bit shite but, now that I'm much older and a little bit wiser, I reckon it's something of a minor classic, great performances, great soundtrack and you get to see Ray Winstone's winkle. If you haven't seen it I highly recommend it - the film that is, not Ray Winstone's winkle.

I like it.
Was expecting this thread to degenerate into a, "wasn't-Leslie-Ash-top-fit-and-didn't-she-look-like-a-woman-at-the-end-of-a-hoover-after-that-surgery" type thing.

You have fulfilled your own prophesy.

I read somewhere that Johnny Rotten was up for the lead at one point.

re: Lydon...That's hilarious on so many levels. Wasn't he on some reality show too?

I didn't like Quadrophenia when I first saw it but being an American teenage Who fan, I think there was just too much that I didn't understand.

Fashion wise, this was the Mod bible for me growing up. I haven't watched it in a long time, will have to check it out. Never got my scoot to look half as good as the ones in the film.

Loved the movie. Wore out my vinyl soundtrack.

However, from high school to this day I am upset that I don't have the "build" for a scooter. At 6'3", with broad shoulders and an enormous ribcage, even at my trimmest (and I've been rail thin), I've always looked like a big goof on a scooter.

So, if I'm going two-wheels anytime soon, It'll be an Indian Chief VIntage (though something has to be done about the seat and saddlebags - they come in black, but bleh. I hate the cowboy fringe)
