Personally, I think it's more of an ego-stroke, these old actors revivng long-retired characters.

If they think their characters are so "well developed", and need "new stories to tell", perhaps they ought to take a cue from the Bond franchise, and hire new, younger actors to play the parts.

Old Ahnold in Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines
Old Sly in Rocky Balboa
Old Bruce in Live Free Or Die Hard
Old Sly in Rambo

That said, this is the one I'm waiting for:
Harrison Ford in Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

I see it as one last hurrah for these guys who are being forced out of their careers for not being young and pretty any longer. I see this as Stallone backed into a corner and coming out fighting. Rocky Balboa was pretty good and maybe I'm being nostalgic but I think we need another Rambo.

I see it as Sly Stallone needing more money to pay for more corrective plastic surgery. Have you seen how shiny and tight his face is lately?
