With the Force as his ally he did battle with the Dark Lord. And he showed the measure of a true Jedi at a place called "The Death Star" where hope for the Galaxy was reborn. May all who struggle against tyranny hold his memory in their hearts

McCain said “Joe the plumber” faced “much higher taxes” under Obama’s tax plan and would pay a fine under Obama’s health care plan if he failed to provide coverage for his workers. But Ohio plumber Joe Wurzelbacher would pay higher taxes only if the business he says he wants to buy puts his income over $200,000 a year, and his small business would be exempt from Obama’s requirement to provide coverage for workers.

Update Oct. 16: ABC News reported the morning after the debate that Wurzelbacher admitted to a reporter that he won't actually make enough from his new plumbing business to pay Obama's higher tax rates. ABC said his admission "would seem to indicate that he would be eligible for an Obama tax cut."

This is so stupid. My father had a small business that employed 4 people. Back in the 80's on a bad year, he would make $250,000.
Get ready for socialism folks, brought to you relentlessly by the news media who have determined who you are going to vote for.

These lovely lefties have declared war on Joe the Plumber. They now have Joe the Plumber Derangement Syndrome, very similar to Sarah Palin Derangement Syndrome.

Moondance, do you have health insurance? Most people I know do not. People with kids can't afford it. Imagine if Jesus required health insurance before he cured the lepers?

"McCain claimed that Obama’s real “object” is a government-run, single-payer health insurance system like those in Canada or England. The McCain campaign points to a quote from five years ago, when Obama told a labor gathering that he was “a proponent of a single-payer health care program.” But Obama has since qualified his enthusiasm for Canadian-style health care, and his current proposal is nothing like that."

Yes, I have insurance and have always had employer sponsored health insurance that I pay for. My employers have always made contributions to it, about $820 a year.

There are many other issues than health insurance in this election that are at stake.

I do not claim to feel that I am right or wrong about a candidate but for God's sakes, the news media should at least be objective, which they are not. Sen. Obama may well make an excellent president but there has been relentless hounding of Sarah Palin from the word Go.

No, she does not frighten me as being 'a heart beat away'. Biden frightens me far more than that! He's totally crackers at times, and so, by the way is McCain.
At least Palin has the courage of her convictions and made herself from the ground up. She's got executive experience.

Why is she less qualified to be the Commander in Chief than Obama? I ask this as a hypothetical question. How much foreign policy experience, or how many world leaders did he meet? How much military training did he have?
The answer is none. We have to trust their judgement to pick the right people for important posts.

Who has Barack Obama surrounded himself with for his whole professional life?
He has sat for 20 years in a Black Liberation Theology church specializing in racial and anti-American hatred for 20 years, then claims he was never there when Rev. Wright uttered these sorts of speeches.

I am not going to go into the William Ayers thing because I don't know enough about it and his relationship with Obama but he definitely has strong associations with Franklin Raines, who is tied up with this whole Fannie Mae Freddie Mac debockle.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Franklin_Raines
He may even have a role to play in an Obama administration.
That, coupled with a likely democratic controlled House and Senate should give anyone pause.

Not that the Republicans conducted their majority with any more responsibility.

I am totally angry about the lack of objectivity in the news media and from what I have already seen about the Obama Truth Squads http://www.freep.com/apps/pbcs.dll/arti ... 215/NEWS15

Nancy Pelosi has pledged to enact the Fairness Doctrine which would effectively curtail the only opposition voice which is free talk radio. If we can't have freedom of speech, where are we going to be as a nation?

I think the theory is that if Joe the Plumber does not really exist, then Barack Obama is not really a Socialist.

Actually, my comment about "Joe the Plumber" was meant to be a comment on the media. How much of the last 24 hour news cycle was spent on this guy anyway?

I actually saw a story titled Joe the Plumber Kicks Ass and Takes Names. I have to agree with Moondance on the way the media has treated Sarah Palin and add Hilary Clinton before her. It's been pretty ugly for the ladies.

All was fair game on Sarah Palin up until the porn video. That's going too far.
She is, after all, a mother of young children, and that was not necessary.
You put your lips to her lips to stop the lie.

Joe The Plumber has made the UK papers today - now I understand what you are all talking about!
Mr. Brian, I find that offensive.

Scouser's inability to se others' point of view is rather grating.

Gripping stuff. He's a plumber but he's not a plumber. It's blowing my mind.

I must confess it's nice to see the media vetting a plumber from Ohio, a pregnant teen and a special needs baby.

Is "vetting" the new word for 2008? Honestly, I hadn't heard of the word prior to this election cycle, and now it's even made its way into commercials for other products.
