My daughter's H.S. senior Amer. History book stated exactly that, except he didn't let the public know it was going to happen. My H.S. textbooks in the 70's were SO different. America was presented as utopian perfection with infallible leaders.

Also, since JackT brought up fluoride, I'm sure Mr. Brian (Admin) can find the recent article (LA Times or NY Times?) about how it's secretly being added to the public's water supply again in a lot of states and that's not a good thing since it causes bone cancer and I think Thyroid problems? The conspiracy theory is that the govt. has such a surplus of the stuff since it's used in making bombs, that putting it in the water supply is an easy way to get rid of it.

How about the secrecy of cloned meat on supermarket shelves? How will we ever know? :biggrin:

and speaking of conspiracies ... nobody's brought up JFK yet. Lone gunman or more than one shooter? Was it something Lee Harvey Oswald thought up to give himself a platform to spout off his opinions, or a plot hatched by the a) CIA, b) the mafia, c) Castro, d) the Soviet Union or e) some other country we'd pissed off at the time?
