At first I assumed you were joking there, but you usually put 12 LOLs after a joke, so now I'm not sure.

Yes, politics is all about politics.

We see what happens when people do vote - record turn out and very close as far as popular vote goes.
I hope this isn't a one time deal. When more people vote, one small interest group has less power.

I am excited about Obama. I am very unexcited about Congress. The last two years, they did not follow through on issues they ran on. Now with a majority we could see decisions as bad as 2000-2006.

You've got early voting and absentee voting to thank for the record turnout.

What do you mean by "record turnout"?

You're a smart guy. Google it. Or if you're too lazy to do that, I'll post a news story from a Cuban online paper, just to piss you off (or because I'm a socialist who pals around with terrorists):

Record Number of Voters Turn Out for U.S. Presidential Elections

Washington, Nov 4, (RHC).— A record number of voters turned out for Tuesday's presidential elections in the United States. And as polls closed and the vote counting continued, there were reports of voting irregularities, confusing ballots, malfunctioning machines and accusations of fraud.

Several key states reported a heavy turnout. A estimated 130 million U.S. voters cast their vote on Tuesday and if that figure is confirmed, turnout will be higher than for any election since 1960.

The U.S. presidential elections were held amid the worst economic
crisis since the Great Depression of the 1930's. According to a Gallup/USA Today poll, people went to the polls with great pessimism regarding the future of their country. At least 78 percent of those surveyed believe that the economic situation will get worse before it gets better.

The poll also shows people's dissatisfaction with the worsening situation of the health care system. At least 47 million people in the U.S. have no health insurance and, of that total, nine million are children.

According to Larry Jacobs, from the Center for Political Studies and Governance of the University of Minnesota, this election is characterized by the American people's rejection of the eight years of the George W. Bush administration -- from the wars of aggression against Iraq and Afghanistan to the financial crisis rocking Wall Street and the world's economies.

As voting began Tuesday morning, all major surveys showed Democratic candidate Barack Obama leading his Republican rival, John McCain. Obama had the support of over 50 percent of those surveyed by Gallup, ABC and CBS. Gallup showed a margin of 11 percentage points in favor of Barack Obama.

But all major analysts suspect that voting irregularities and fraud will complicate the election -- as it occurred in both the 2000 and 2004 elections, which many believe were stolen by George W. Bush.

It is also being reported that anti-riot police and U.S. Army units are on stand-by in many parts of the country for any possible protests and demonstrations arising from the results of the elections in the United States.

So far the vote total is about 118 million. There were 122 million in 2004. I guess it's possible that 12 million more votes are left to be counted to get "a estimated" 130 million, but that strikes me as unlikely.

Has there been some sort of election?
Mr. Brian, I find that offensive.

You don't want to know. I don't think the British are ready for a minority leader.

We had a woman dont forget. OK, a robot masquerading as a woman. That was quite novel at the time.

Us Brits were under the impression for a long time that Morgan Freeman was president so Obama is nothing new to us.

I always suspected Thatcher was a cyborg sent back in time to kill John Connor.

Fox News reports that Palin didn't know Africa was a continent and did not know the member nations of the North American Free Trade Agreement -- the United States, Mexico and Canada -- when she was picked for vice president.

The New York Times reports that McCain aides were outraged when Palin staffers scheduled her to speak with French President Nicholas Sarkozy, a conversation that turned out to be a radio station prank.

Newsweek reports that Palin spent far more than the previously reported $150,000 on clothes for herself and her family.

Several publications say she irked the McCain campaign by asking to make her own concession speech on election night.
