I sincerely hope you are £150 the richer on Sunday evening, VB.
This might give you a little hope:
In 1988, Liverpool got to the FA Cup Final against a team beginning with "W" in a final they were expected to win easily and lost 1-0.
This was their second final in three seasons and had won the previous final.
In 2013, City got to the FA Cup Final against a Team beginning with "W" in a final they were expected to win easily, and lost 1-0. This was their second final in three years having won the previous final
In 1989 Liverpool were fighting for the title with Arsenal. Arsenal were favourites with three games to go. They lost the third game 2-1, and drew their penultimate game 2-2. This meant Liverpool became odds on favourites to win the League. They could even draw or lose the last game by one goal. As you know we didnt win it. Four games before the end of the season, Liverpool won their game by four goals (5-1 against West Ham).
In 1989, a player who was destined to score for Liverpool in an FA Cup Final scored the goal that decided that years title (Michael Thomas)
In 2014 Liverpool and City are going for the League. With three games to go Liverpool were favourites. They lose their third to last game, and draw their penultimate game, meaning City are odds on favourites. City play at home four days before the final game of the season and win by four goals. They can even afford to draw their last game
Lets hope that on Sunday a player who has scored for Liverpool in an FA Cup Final continues this spooky pattern, and scores the goal that decides the title.
