You Yanks will read any old shite.
Mr. Brian, I find that offensive.

Scouser's inability to se others' point of view is rather grating.

That's the minority that can read.

It is true. And as can be deduced by Adams' book, even fewer of us can actually write.

Yes, but he's a master with the scissors and the owner of a not inconsiderably sized glue stick.

i like adams's book but it would have been better if it had some criticism or opinion, but its what he set out to do i suppose. Haven't seen the eric's one. Just been reading the 'rip it up....' book. Good in places I suppose - well i found the bits covering bands i didn't really know or hadn't heard much or anythihng by, dull, but some bits where i knew a bit about them very good. Not quite sure what that says. I thought the liverpool chapter a bit lacking, though maybe thats because i've read too much about that already. On the other hand the lydon stuff he seemed much more involved in.

Dunno why hips so down on the chap, hardly a hanging offence is it? Still think theres a definitive bunnies book to be written. And obviously its ten years or so once the last one (?)

I thought the Rip book was good when me mum read it to me - especially if I didn't know the bands as the insight into some groups made me interested in searching them out.

thats my point really. it is the sign of a good music biog that it makes you want to check the music out or revisit it - and it did in places, but not others. As it happens just read peter guralnicks mammoth elvis biog and though it can be described as 'encyclopedic' (is that the american spelling, i think we have an 'a' in there), its very good onthe music and I do feel an elvis album coming on. bless my soul whats a wrong with me, etc. Mind you its a bit depressing in places and [spoiler alert] he dies in the end. eek

I was speaking of the book - I take it you are referring to this:

?

Have you all heard of Trouser Press?

http://www.trouserpress.com/

The early editions were so good upto Ed 4 1991. I got a copy of the 90s music review and either they were missing the good bands or music really went down the tubes. For the 90s edition they also avoided many bands that made their mark in the 80s due to space. (Not outer)
