Independence Day

Tired of discussing the Bunnymen and all the bands that have been influenced by them? This is the place for you.

When I saw the title of this thread I was all set to show my contempt for that movie that Will Smith made with the same title. When he punched out that alien after the chase through the desert I thought my head would actually burst into flames. Don't even get me going on the Macbook uploading a virus to an alien network. What really makes me mad is how I thought it would be good in the first place! Khaaaaaan!

Oh, I got 6 right on the quiz. Damn PG Tips reference threw me off or I would have had 7!

I like the independence and all the taxation with representation but I wish the accent stuck around. Cheers?

I got 6.

I can't believe that I got this one correct:
St David's, St Patrick's, St George's and St Andrews

That was mindboggling!

Anytime a preview starts with "from the producers of Independence Day and Godzilla..." I think thanks for the warning.
With the Force as his ally he did battle with the Dark Lord. And he showed the measure of a true Jedi at a place called "The Death Star" where hope for the Galaxy was reborn. May all who struggle against tyranny hold his memory in their hearts

We could all type stuff like honour, armour, behaviour, rumour. It'd be a start.

Credit Noah Webster for dropping those "U's" from 'Murican.

From Wikipedia:

Differences in orthography are also trivial. Some of the forms that now serve to distinguish American from British spelling (color for colour, center for centre, traveler for traveller, etc.) were introduced by Noah Webster himself; others are due to spelling tendencies in Britain from the 17th century until the present day (e.g. -ise for -ize, programme for program, skilful for skillful, chequered for checkered, etc.), in some cases favored by the francophile tastes of 19th century Victorian England, which had little effect on AmE.[20]

here's the stuff they ask on the u.s. citizenship test:

I haven't tried the recent test, but I failed Tebbit's Cricket Test in the 80s.

Does Will Smith always have to have one of those, "Oh no you didn't!" moments in a movie now? Is that like Samuel L. Jackson having to say m.f.ing something?
