It must be the absence of any actors with latex foreheads.

Seriously now, I really don't get how someone who likes sci-fi couldn't like this show. Even people who think they don't like sci-fi seem to like this show once they watch it! I think for some the stigma of the tacky original show just haunts them or something. Or maybe they want their sci-fi to be tacky with silver spacesuits and bad laser beam hits. Even I was dubious when I first heard about it till a friend of mine challenged me NOT to like it after I watched the miniseries that launched the new series. Now I think it is one of the greatest sci-fi TV shows ever. It's not really a show you can just jump into however. There are many complex story arcs occurring. You almost have to watch it from the beginning or watch of those recap shows that they have on the website otherwise you would have no idea what is going on.

I watched season 1 and I loved it. Then I missed the beginning of season 2, and I didn't want to watch the show without getting caught up, and I ended up never watching again. (I would prefer not to watch than to miss anything, which might be a mental problem of some kind.)

that's probably why i don't like it. my husband watches it all the time and i see little bits and bobs here and there and i just can't get into it at all. i don't like the pace of it, either.

BSG is really one of my favorite shows. but you are right about the complex story arcs. i've been watching since the beginning and i love it... my husband was a bit skeptical when we first heard of it because he couldn't imagine the "Starbuck" character being played by a girl. but it just works. its way better than the original... on so many levels

have any of you seen this??

what the frak!!!

that was a great mid-season finale. but the bitches had to go with the huge cliffhanger ending... and the rest of season 4 won't be until 2009 :frown:

but in the mean time, here is a nice article with james callis about his character gaius baltar:

Wow, that was a downer. Great episode, I watched it twice. It will be very interesting on how they finish off the series after that mid-season ending. I felt like after the cliffhanger where they were captured on New Caprica and it seemed utterly hopeless. This seems worse. I kept waiting for the half buried Statue of Liberty to appear or maybe they will meet up with Mad Max now.
