Anyone ever see a ghost?

Tired of discussing the Bunnymen and all the bands that have been influenced by them? This is the place for you.

There's supposed to be a difference between place memories and ghosts?

I used to live in a victorian and saw a lot of either one or the other.
The house was built on a stream and had a well. I remember reading that since ghosts are made of electricity, they can travel much more easily when there's water around.
My niece saw something in our house also when she had spent the night once. She didn't know anything about what I had seen because I never told her until she asked me about the woman she saw ithe night before.

The theory is that not all ghosts are actually conscious beings. Many of them are recordings of traumatic events which are then replayed by people who are receptive to those kind of things. Then you have interractive spirits which while aware may not be aware they have actually died. The reason they only appear during the evening is that is just the time when they are most visible. We just don't notice them. They're there the whole time and to make themselves manifest it requires them to use energy from surrounding area.

I used to do a lot of "ghost chasing" a couple of years ago and every now and then someone will tell me their friend thinks their house is haunted and ask me to check it out.

I have so many stories but what stands out are trips beneath Pasadena's suicide bridge. That place is active and besides EVP I had someone whisper my name in my ear. I was proud of myself that I did not run but now I know what they mean when they say your blood goes cold. That's exactly what it felt like and I had never been so scared in my life. And I never go there alone anymore.

I believe you BF, seriously.

The persons I've seen were not transparent at all. They looked no different than someone who is alive except for their clothing. It wasn't from the present.

My daughter and I have both seen and heard things and had the sensation that someone sat on our hed or there was a crushing force lying on us.

It would be interesting to see if those who believe in UFOs don't believe in ghosts and vice versa.

that reminds me......in the house where i heard the footsteps, my sister was babysitting for me one time and she said she saw an old woman in the sun-room. she never told me until about a year ago and it happened like 12-14 years back! i asked her why she never said anything and she said coz she didn't think we'd believe her. she didn't know i'd heard the footsteps until a year ago, or she may have said something sooner. we believe it was the same ghost... the old woman that we bought the house from. she died in a nursing home, but she loved her house! i heard the footsteps right after she died.

Or, do you think they're still lost in purgatory then, go to whereever their beliefs lead them?

If a member of a family that committed suicide came back, I wonder what other family members would think?

Would they be relieved for that person released from pain or still sad b/c they lost them? Classic example, Elliott Smith...

As for suicide, for some people though, it might be an option, to get rid of the pain from all of the failures in their life. It's almost like, let them do what they want to do, try to save them but, it is their choice. Suicide has came up a few times in my life sadly though, it didn't happen to others angry dismay.

And Ian Curtis! I remember you said you liked JD.

I don't know if the Catholic church did away with Purgatory? Last time I checked, Limbo was gone. They're hard to keep up with.

You shouldn't say things like that about yourself.

I was sad to see they got rid of limbo and purgatory. What are the Catholic school children to pray for now?

a priest that can keep his dick in his pants? Sorry.

back on topic.......I lived in a house that a sea captain built in the mid 1800s.. He was electrocuted climbing a tree during a thunderstorm to rescue his cat. I think my Autistic son has seen him (from the clothing and hat he described the man was wearing) but I never did.
Just thought I'd mention it because it's kind of similar to Red's story about the old woman dying.

well, they can't pray for the conversion of communist russia anymore either :surprised:

A few days before my dad died, my mom was sitting with him in his hospital room, and she said he got a really happy smile on his face, like how you'd look if somebody you loved but hadn't seen for a really long time came to visit. We think it might have been the ghost of his mother, who died when he was a little boy. My mother didn't see any spectral figures, tho, and she says she believes in ghosts.

That reminds me of my grandfather. He was in the hospital having a massive heart attack and his son asked him if he was ready to "cross over" and my grandfather responded with "yeah I think so" and a smirk then died. I hope to go out cool like that but I'll probably go out kicking and screaming, pleading for God to take someone else instead and pointing at people I think deserve to go more than me.
With the Force as his ally he did battle with the Dark Lord. And he showed the measure of a true Jedi at a place called "The Death Star" where hope for the Galaxy was reborn. May all who struggle against tyranny hold his memory in their hearts

I believe children can see more than we can because they haven't become closed minded and jaded like adults. Autistic children seem so much more innocent that I can't help but think are even more in tune with that.
