I also think feces with unknown parasites has also been found in the Pacific Northwest. One other factor to consider is the native inhabitants have stories and a belief in these creatures (including lake monsters) and they are very in tune with the land in which they reside. Many recent animal discoveries by western culture were in fact well known to the native populations years in advance.
John Chambers has always denied being the creator of the Bigfoot suit stating he was "good but not that good" and more than a few current hollywood special effects experts stated the technology and materials were not available at the time to create such a suit. Chambers blamed the story on the Hollywood rumor mill and till his death denied being the creator of the suit.
To this day there is no proof that footage is a fake. It may be discovered to be a fake in the future but very serious research has been conducted on that footage and still it is an unknown variable.
Negative proof - "X is true because there is no proof that X is false."
The lack of evidence is not evidence and some of what you say is just hearsay and folklore.
Native Americans also believed the Earth is on the back of a giant turtle and talking animals conversed with humans.
