The new owner could be Ming The Merciless for all I care, all that matters is that the crippling debt gets cleared and the club is then run properly. LFC is now very profitable, once the debt is removed we will have a lot of money being self-generated and not require huge amounts to be invested, unless they intend to build a new stadium of course.

You almost got your wish:

August 2010 Chinese businessman Kenny Huang claims he is leading a bid, which is believed to be backed by the Chinese government, to buy Liverpool. Soon after, the Syrian businessman Yahya Kirdi also claims to be involved in a takeover proposal.

Luckily:
21 August 2010 Huang says he is no longer interested in buying the club due to the slow nature of negotiations with Broughton.

Maybe Mukesh Ambani will buy it.

I thought so. I guess having the threat that RBS call in the debt and Liverpool FC goes into liquidation, is docked points, etc is too big a worry to worry who buys it. Still, it looks like the new owners to be, if it doesn't go belly up, want to build the new stadium or at least redevelop Anfield. That John Henry also looks like a slick operator.

Golly, I got distracted there for a minute while reading about the takeover on BBC Sport and instead watched the England girl hockey team forgetting the words to Jerusalem. I thought it was the Swedish one for a minute, judging by the amount of blondes. Hubber hubber. Sorry, back to topic.

That video is truly sickening. Another example of Scousers playing the victim.

No mention in there for the previous managed who splashed tens of millions on less than average players.

The John Henry group (New England Sports Venture) is decent enough. They brought two championships to Boston within 3 years (Red Sox), refurbished the ball park (Fenway) and hired a great manager (Terry Francona).

At the same time, they've raised ticket prices to among the highest levels in the league, wouldn't pay the extra $12 million for Johnny Damon, gave Henry's new wife not only a substantial job at the ballpark, but also a show of her own on their majority owned tv station, and cheaped out on the bidding for Mark Teixeira. The last one hurts the most, but I still don't understand the 5 year contract for John Lackey.

However, the management team is all about winning. And cross promotion. Maybe someday the Sox will be playing in the Liverpool stadium. Start practicing Take Me Out To The Ball Game!

And thus it begins.

Shouldn't you be trying to throw a blackpudding into a welly or something?

Any idea what time the 18-25year old ladies event is due to start? And are the peas cold?

Every working stiff schmo in every town around the world does this when an outsider buys their sports team. It usually doesn't even take a foreigner.

I am just surprised it doesn't happen more often seeing that last I heard 8 premier teams are foreign owned. Too bad Lerner or Glazer didn't buy it, huh?

Being a cultured type, I am more partial to watching wrestling in Waitrose's finest olive oil. "Extra Virgin" is particularly nice. Seeing those scantily clad 18-25 year old ladies all shiny, slippery, sliming, wreathing, fresh and fruitieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Happened to us. The Seattle Supersonics were our NBA team, founded in 1967.

In 2006 Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz sold the Sonics to Oklahoma City businessman Clay Bennett, who swore he wasn't interested moving the team.

The team moved to Oklahoma City in 2008.

So, on the bright side - LFC may not be locally owned anymore... but at least they weren't relocated 1000s of miles away.

Dave, how is Fletcher doing for you? He has the best first touch I've ever seen. I was gutted he left, but he needed to because he is definately a Premier League player.
