contact customer care. I don't know what policies other carriers have, but it's my company's policy to go half-way with you on accidental overages.

It sounds like Woj may need to eat those vegetables and no one goes to malls anymore.

Maybe a stockade in a Game Stop?

Humiliate or embarrass him in front of his friends. Helps to create fond memories.

generally when his mates find out he hasn't got a phone that will be shame enough and precipitate howls of laughter from all concerned. if they find out it been taken off him by his dad, a cycle of despair will ensue. That, or replace the phone with a tescos own version, or say, "you can use mine" - because its probably going to be a brick from the 1990s. And then when he says he cant hang out with the gang because he's got to be in before it gets dark. well you'll never be forgiven - I mean for such a minor misdemeanor and just because you haven't got any friends etc.

Until about 18 months ago I was using a pay-as-you-go phone that amounted to about $6 a month. (It only works out that way for light useage though.)

They've since been rebranded and are now called Travelodges.

You could always buy him a pink phone. That way he'd only use it in a real emergency.

That's a good idea. That brings back memories... I worked in a mobile phone shop in the early 1990s and the temporary replacement phone that we'd give customers while their normal brick phone was being fixed was available in black, pink, red or yellow. We used to give the pink model to customers we didn't like the look of or had been rude when they had come to collect it. Just like this, but in pink:

That would be ideal to punish any wayward son for running up a phone bill. No Internet or texting on it either. The only alternative nowadays I guess is one of those phones for the elderly with the large keypad. Tonywojo, you could give him a kid's phone. Some are restricted to just four telephone numbers. Try the LG Migo or i-care phone for the total embarrassment factor. One of those would work a treat because he would no longer have any friends left for him to call after being ostracised at school (cue Donald Sutherland invasion of the bodysnatchers pic pointing).

Watch he doesn't hit you with it though Wojo, that one looks like it could do some damage.

Are there any escape clauses for minors not having the capacity to understand what they are doing? I mean, in the US minor children do not have the capacity to form contracts and so they are void.

If he is about old enough, make him buy his own damn phone service. Getting a job like the rest of us who wanted to buy things our parents said no to purchasing builds character. I recommend McDonalds where they told me they were going to make me cook fries all day to ruin my perfect skin and clean the tile grout with my toothbrush.

If they still made these I would use one. I've always wanted one.

With the Force as his ally he did battle with the Dark Lord. And he showed the measure of a true Jedi at a place called "The Death Star" where hope for the Galaxy was reborn. May all who struggle against tyranny hold his memory in their hearts
