Battlestar Galactica Final Season

Tired of discussing the Bunnymen and all the bands that have been influenced by them? This is the place for you.

George Lucas is making sure that any nostaligic feelings for Star Wars some of us oldies may hold is rapidly evaporating. And Harrison Ford is doing his part as well with shit like getting his chest waxed to call attention to deforestation. Withahip has been calling attention to the plight of the forests for years now with his brazilian waxes. He's a pioneer.
With the Force as his ally he did battle with the Dark Lord. And he showed the measure of a true Jedi at a place called "The Death Star" where hope for the Galaxy was reborn. May all who struggle against tyranny hold his memory in their hearts

I heard BF put a fireplace in Cali home just to show he is no sucker for the environment thing.

The attempts to get us to love the new Star Wars by putting them on the tube all the time show me the best part of the orignals - the cast seemed ready to look at the camera any minute and go "HA!" and the stories - well the story went before the effects because if the effects were on the screen too long we might notice the Death Star surface was a munch of battle ship models pasted together.

Listen sonny, the special effects in Star Wars were a revolutionary leap over anything audiences had seen before. They were quite happy to look at the Death Star for any length of time, and they would have marvelled for every second. We were all blown away by the effects in that film.

The effects from original Star Wars trilogy still piss on the prequels. Same thing with Star Trek. The first one had mind blowing special effects but sucked balls. Wrath of Khan was decidedly more low tech and is the kick ass space battle of all time. There I said it.

Yeah but it has as much to do with the camera angles as with the special effects.

This CGI stuff is going to look like this in five years -

The original King Kong was perhaps the greatest special effects film ever made. I think it holds up extrememly well for a 70 year old movie.

He just doesn't listen. I am saying in five years these movies will look like that movie does 70 years later - today. Star Wars and Blade Runner still hold up over thirty years later.

I thought Lucas and Co. gave the orginal trilogy a digital makeover in the 90's for the DVD releases? I don't think what you are seeing now on TV is the same version as the 1970's theatrical release, which are still great of course but they did get dated over time just like all effects do.

Anybody (I guess that just means Frank here) watch it last night?

It was one of those bridge episodes, not much action but it has great lines and filled in some plot holes.
Tyrol has now lost his only link to humanity.
I don't want to see Adama and Roslyn in the sack ever again even though that was probably the only uplifting moment in the mess they are in.
The whole Tigh and Six with Cottle doing the ultrasound was a pretty funny scene.

And whats up with the KFC Frak Pack commercial? Obviously they know the word is used in the show to substitute for "fuck" but they are basically advertising a "Fuck Pak" Something tells me that Col. Sanders would not be pleased.

It looks like since it aired they changed it however. This is what it was:

Now it's been changed to this:

Good episode last night. But some good characters died. I wonder who all will be left, in the end.

Battlestar Galactica Movie Exclusive

IGN has heard that BSG will be coming to theaters.
by Jim Vejvoda

February 20, 2009 - IGN Movies has learned that Universal Pictures is planning to turn the TV series Battlestar Galactica into a feature film with series creator Glen A. Larson being lined up to script and produce it.

We were informed that the film will be based on the original BSG series from 1978-79 rather than the recent reboot from Sci Fi Channel. The story followed a band of humans who were the only survivors of a devastating attack on their colonial homeworld by the vicious cybernetic race known as the Cylons. The survivors, led by Commander Adama, embark on a journey through space aboard the military vessel Battlestar Galactica to find refuge on a distant planet called Earth.

Battlestar Galactica has been in cinemas before. Re-edited versions of television episodes were released theatrically: Battlestar Galactica (1978), Mission Galactica: The Cylon Attack (1978), and Conquest of the Earth (1980).

A Universal spokesperson refused to comment on rumored projects before ultimately denying it; we were later able to confirm our scoop independently. (This studio denial was reminiscent of Sony's dismissive response to our scoop about Jaden Smith starring in a Karate Kid remake, which we broke a YEAR before the project was officially announced.)

Although we understand that nothing is final yet on the BSG film front, fans should likely expect an official announcement on the project in the coming weeks.

I don't think I like the idea of a new movie based on the original BSG.
