Listen 2 Morrissey?

Postby cigarandyak » Wed Apr 23, 2008 11:00 am

Hey guys, just wondering if anyone bought Morrissey's Greatest Hits album that just came out? I found his IMEEM site (morrissey.imeem.com) and it has a track list and some songs. What do you guys think?

Any faves on the album?

Haven't seen/heard the greatest hits but
How Soon is Now
This Charming Man
Bigmouth Strikes Again are among my Smiths faves.

By the way, Mark Ronson's version of Stop Me is very good.
Every word is like an unnecessary stain on silence and nothingness.

Is it my imagination, or are there more Morrissey/Smiths Greatest Hits albums than you can shake a stick at?

UPDATE: (ADDITIONAL FUNNY COMMENT ADDED)

Who does he think he is, Echo & The Bunnymen?

Best track by far - very quintissential - a lot of the stuff he put out is rubbish.

I kind of agree. I like those 2 songs but was never a big Smiths fan.

In the past I've always found it easier to listen to Mac whine through a song like say "the Promise" than Morrissey's whining.

Even though in the 80's they were both on the feminine side  Mac always seemed the more manly of the two. He's gotten even manlier now while Morrissey has stayed the same.

manlier? Is that in the dictionary?

If it's not, it should be

Know what you mean about Mac and Moz. Mac has filled out from that skinny kid he once was, but then so has Moz. But Mac just seems ... manlier.

Never much of a Smiths fan either, but I like the title "Shoplifters of the World Unite"

The Smiths/Morrissey greatest hits may not yet mirror EATB, but it is:

~ The Very Best of the Smiths
~ Singles
~ The Best of the Smiths Vol. 1
~ The Best of the Smiths Vol. 2
~ This Charming Man single remixes (7 versions!)
~ Greatest Hits 2CD Morrissey
~ Suedehead: The Best of Morrissey

I'm not a massive Smiths fan either, but always liked Hand In Glove, Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now and There is A Light that Goes Out. Morrissey's Vauxhall and I is a pretty good album.

One of my favorites too. That, and "Break Up the Family".

Who was that other guy that used to play guitar for Moz? The one that was supposed to have been the true brains behind the music?

Boz? or Johnny Marr?

Hey, how come Muricans don't have Z-ending nicknames like that?

Was being a bit sarcastic. Poor Marr was anointed to be the succesful one upon the break up.
