Sad, really. Who do you know in the clink?

A new study of US prisons has found that numbers of people in jail are at an all-time high, with more than 1% of the adult population behind bars.

The Pew Center report calls the US the global leader in the rate at which it imprisons its citizens.

That's right. This year Bob Barker ( of TV game show host fame) has helped put a law into effect in L.A. that states that by not neutering your pet by age 4, you could serve prison time. I am one of those with a 2 yr. old male dog who chooses not to, so I may be serving time with some bad ass women. L.A. is adding some crazy f*cking driving violations of the law to the list this year too.
The prisons in Calif. alone are so crowded now that one idea was to make the lesser convicts like Paris Hilton, etc. serve out their time under house arrest.
My idea to ease overcrowding is to send some prisoners like for example, gang members convicted of murder, to Iraq.

Interesting, my take on it is a bit different. I doubt many folks are serving time for that. We are a country whose identity revolves around argument, confrontation and violence. (Thus, Scouser is an honorary American.)This is the result.

As far as sending gang members to Iraq - we already have

Do you mean you doubt many folks are serving time for murder in this country?

I really don't want ANYONE sent to Iraq. I was just being sarcastic. I just thought the gang members have had a lot of target practice, much more than the average American.

I know, Barker.

Are you from Calif? The law is just going into effect. Ignore 3 fines that get higher with each warning and the owner goes to prison. I hope that I will be wearing an ankle bracelet at home so that I can have some wine on the weekends rather than drink the homemade hootch that my cellmate would probably make.

In fact, that's what I'm going to do now, go have some wine.

I'll be back tomorrow. I don't like to post under the influence.

What do they have, dog balls inspectors?

"What are you in for?"
"Breeding."

You know, in some cases that should be a crime.

Didn't the three strikes law cause this mess? That and the jailing of non-violent drug offenders? I understand societies need to punish and deter habitual offenders however I don't think you should go to prison with violent murderers, gang members and rapists for 25 years because you shoplifted 3 times.

In my area they wanted to build a new jail and they couldn't get the tax passed. The current jail is already overcrowded and they release people early. Some people don't even show up to court to pay fines because they know that no one will take them to jail for not paying anyway! It's a big joke.

I have no idea what the answer is but what they are doing now does not seem to work.

So, if neutering is a procedure performed on males, and males are half the population, are you saying all males should be neutered? That's just crazy Nazi talk there, sister.

The topic of abortion is a touchy subject so I don't want to criticize anyone's beliefs on this forum but I am FOR abortion, but AGAINST the death penalty. I hear from a lot of Christian right, the exact opposite. It's kind of like a mentality of, don't kill those babies, raise them so we can fry them later on. I think a lot of kids grow up commiting crimes because they know they're unwanted from the start, either getting bounced around the foster parent circuit or being reminded everyday that they were a mistake.

Yes, Withahip there is a dog ball's inspector patrol headed by Mr. Barker who will be visiting houses on a regular basis. Just kidding. If you can prove you're a professional breeder they'll leave you alone. Too many strays.
