New Bands That Sound Awesome?

Postby Tinsel Tears » Tue Mar 27, 2012 3:11 pm

Stumbled on this video randomly, sounds pretty legit. Its got that classic sound you don't hear anymore.

<object><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/DLllPGWZFeE?version=3&feature=player_detailpage"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/DLllPGWZFeE?version=3&feature=player_detailpage" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" width="640" height="360"></object>

Think this could be a cool thread for finding new talent or even just hearing other obscure bands or songs from any era that rock. But please don't post BS! Keep it relevant. Cheers

I've been listening to anything by Greg Cartwright and not a whole lot else lately. I've always loved rock and roll, garage, gospel, punk, Motown and girl bands. Cartwright has a little something for everyone and I believe he is America's most underrated songwriter. If you only have patience for one check out the Compulsive Gamblers song. I can't get enough of it.

His best known bands are the Oblivians:

They're working on a new album as we speak. Hopefully tour to follow.

No kidding looking froward to it . Been listening to him all afternoon. I think he will get his due though. 90's is very relevant now. You know how pop culture is. Give it 20 years then nostalgia kicks in and as a result tons of perhaps overlooked gems are uncovered on second look.

Finally a thread for this.

"Titties"????
That's what I was going to name my new band! Looks like someone stole my great idea. I would ask, "You got any videos of theirs?" but I'm afraid of what might get posted!

I have not purchased any music from new bands in a long time (new releases by bands I like for sure); I don't even listen to the radio anymore because I don't like what's being played. I wish I could find something I like, because I do feel I need to branch out more, but I can't say anything has gotten me excited about parting ways with my cash.

Bought the new vinyl EP by The School today. Very much is the Primitives / Darling Buds mould. Touring with Tracey Tracey's band next month, tempting.
