Fire chiefs issued another warning today after a couple escaped a fierce chip pan fire.
The couple, in their 40s, were having tea in their home in Coquetdale Place, Bedlington Station, last night when the blaze broke out shortly after 6pm.
There was no smoke alarm in the house but they were alerted by their dog. They smothered the chip pan with wet cloths but were beaten back as the fire spread upstairs and caused extensive damage.
