On the topic of the U.S. being hated more or less now:
This is actually not from my bitter, hateful, resentful imagination but rather from The BBC World Service Poll courtesy of L.A. Times 9/14:
Some of the nations surveyed on who they want to win here in Nov. not that their opinion will have any bearing on the election:
"Kenya 87% Obama 5%McCain
Italy 76% Obama 12%McCain
Canada 66%Obama 14%McCain
Mexico 54%Obama 16%McCain
India 24%Obama 15%McCain"
"France, Germany and Britain may have sparked taunts from the GOP, but it paid off in this poll. In each of those countries, support for Obama swamped McCain's showing."
"The survey also found that the most common view is that an Obama White House would mean "America's realtions with the rest of the world are likely to get better." Under a President McCain, relations will stay about the same as they are now." 19 countries opined."
Americans maybe should care about what the rest of the world thinks. It might help prevent future terrorist attacks here?
