Didn't hear of the band until '84. Thank God for college.

Doesn't that make you 60 or something?

Sadly I grew up in a town of 27,000 and didn't have the opportunity to see a band til I was about 17 and that was KMFDM at the Warfield around 94 or 95.

I've seen the Bunnymen three times since 97 and the shows have all come up short of Mac solo in 2003.
With the Force as his ally he did battle with the Dark Lord. And he showed the measure of a true Jedi at a place called "The Death Star" where hope for the Galaxy was reborn. May all who struggle against tyranny hold his memory in their hearts

Yip........

I went to all the UK Dates on that tour, although the Albert Hall was the show piece gig the highlights were actually Glasgow Locarno and Stornaway in my opinion.....

My highlight came about 15 years later when Q magazine did an article on that tour both myself and a mate got a mention in it. It quotes Pete talking about two guys from East Kilbride sitting backstage after the Stornaway Gig with a Ghetto Blaster playing back a tape of that evenings gig lol ...... T'was me

Are you sure it wasn`t the Portree gig the night before Stornoway? Cos it was me who quoted that to Q !!! I was standing next to you backstage as Mac signed your tape before signing my ticket!
That Q interview really stitched me up ,some of it was spot on ,but most of it made me out to be a right twat!! But i still remember you guys and that tape! You asked Mac if he wanted to hear it and he said "I m ok man ,me ears are still ringing!"
My memory is pretty good with that gig as i was 14 years old and stone cold sober!!!As for the gig............!

Really? I saw the Chicago gig for Mac that tour and it was lackluster. Maybe an off night I guess.

I bow to your superior memory, I must have taken stronger drugs than you as a child lol.....

My other abiding memory of that tour was it actually took place during a British Summer where the sun actually shined, It was a fantastic time ........

Yeah the sun seemed to burn all summer long that year!
I remember the set up included the big glokenspiel thing (Porcupine tour)!
I`m sure they played Never Stop in the set but might be dreaming it !!
It was released as a single during that tour so there`s a fair chance!
The ferry en route to the Stornoway gig was seemingly memorable also ,with the band and hundreds of hungover spaced out fans all sailing the seven seas together!!

Remember seeing them at least twice in '83. Both at the Royal Court. First one in January - I think it was the night after Mac had shown his nipple on TOTP. The second one was around July when 'Never Stop' was out. Used to love them playing that venue.

Yes it was Liverpool Royal Court, they used to have bands on all the time - haven't been past it in years so don't know what it's used for now. Not sure what you mean by Why?
