Can anyone confirm this suspicion for me?

Everyone remembers The Killing Moon appearing in Donnie Darko, and it gets a lot of recognition from that.

But am I correct in my memory by recalling a freaking BUNNYMAN in the movie??? Like some monster? Can that possibly be a coincidence?

I didn't think it could until I read the director removed the song from the Director's Cut.

Still.............that is just too much to be a coincidence........

Also, it's not a song, but that John Cusack movie namechecking the band along with The Jesus And Mary Chain seemed pretty big at the time. It's one of the things that provoked me to check out The Jesus And Mary Chain more, though the movie was pretty inaccurate. The bands have pretty big differences, though they actually are both among my favorites - though the Bunnymen still top them by a large margin.

Well yes, sounds like a BIG coincidence to me. Don't think it was removed, just moved with shite INXS replacing it at the start - I read somewhere the director (Richard Kelly?) thought it more appropriate to have KM in the party scene, it being what the kids would want, rather than INXS whilst getting off their faces. I would personally have to get off my face to listen to INXS but thats just me. I think KM worked where it was, but then i would wouldn't I, and as such you should never believe a director knows everything. And him being the director, how did it get at the start anyway if he didn't want it there? Movie people shenanigans I suppose, or he just changed his mind. And Mad World by some unnown bloke was the christmas numero uno over here - just read onthe pedia thing that Gary Jules was the soundtrack blokes best mate, so, go figure.

There is a scene at the beginning where the neighbors are keeping up the little girl because of their party. As I recall Do It Clean is playing from a radio or stereo through an open window as they pass.

I actually liked that movie. It wasn't what I expected, which was some typical vapid kids movie. I found it heartwarming. Sigur Ros did most of the score (vs the soundtrack) so that was an additional nice surprise.

It's not in the script I found online, it might just be something Jack Black ad libs

BARRY
It's almost impossible to find,
especially on CD. Yet another cruel
trick on all of the dumbasses who
got rid of their turntables. But
every other Echo and the Bunnymen
album --

CUSTOMER
I have all of the others.

BARRY
Oh really. Well what about the first
Jesus and Mary Chain?

CUSTOMER
They always seemed...

BARRY
They always seemed what? They always
seemed really great, is what they
always seemed. They picked up where
your precious Echo left off, and
you're sitting here complaining about
no more Echo albums. I can't believe
that you don't own that record.
That's insane.

That was so cool - and so cool of you to find it. What are the odds there'd be a bit about two great (IMO) bands like that in a mainstream movie when I doubt those bands were well known among the movie's audience.
