Dave Smith - defender of the official site

Postby Scouser » Sat Feb 16, 2008 1:49 pm

Oh Dave, Dave, Dave - when will you ever learn?

Your impassioned plea on the official forum to stop unwillinglymine's multiple posts had me in hysterics. All the blurts wading in to defend the right to post meaningless drivel, even Peter gets involved. You were dead in the water from the off.

Only for Dave to wring his hands to plead with the throng - "how are we going to attract people back?". Brilliant.

Dont you see - thats what the lobotomised users of that forum want. Ten posts about Macs overcoat and Watercolors new cat. Why cant you just accept it?

That forum is dead. Long live the new forum. Now with added ghosts.
Mr. Brian, I find that offensive.

Scouser's inability to se others' point of view is rather grating.

In a way, the forum was ALWAYS just a few people posting silly nonsense. The difference is, some of it used to be actually interesting or funny or at least offensive.

The new batch of users that Peter seems so excited about remind me of slightly dim but good natured woodland creatures. At least that's how they write.

I'm sure blackfrancis has made 10 posts while I've written this, so I guess I better go see what they are...

My heart went out to you Dave when I read your impassioned plea and the ensuing imbecilic slaps on your hand for even suggesting such a thing.

This was written on another site I visit regarding a totally different site, but it feels appropriate here:

Unfortunately, the blog is pretty weak. It can go days without being updated, and usually the updates are no more than just a couple of lines. It seems like the blog is an afterthought, and only exists so that the Herald can say they have a blog for the team.

I really don't want to keep bashing Peter. I know he's very busy working full time and can't devote hours and hours to the site. Does anyone know what kind of work he does? Brain surgeon? Entrepreneur? World peace negotiator? Sales clerk?

I wish they'd learn how to make full use of the qwerty keyboard.

The weird thing is that Peter seems tickled pink with the present state of the official forum. The postings of unwillinglymine are apparently just the kind of activity he has been hoping for.

ha ha good one. I started a separate thread for this kind of post! Well done, though.

Ha! You beat me to it Jack, I just logged on to make a similar comment.

One good thing about all the drivel on the other site is it might finally be exactly what I need to break the addiction of looking in there every day, it's getting too painful now.
There's times when I've been deeply indifferent

Fuck me-what a waste of time!We may as well all post on a primary school site.Tonights golden nugget is 'Whats in a name?' where members are invited to explain the critique behind their username.Essential stuff. But I stand by my opinion that the official forum should be the main one.Just that it should never be run by liberal do-gooders shit-scared of upsetting anyone incase he loses his position on the merchstand.

Even better was when the guy with 8 posts lectured him about his attitude.

Of course, on this forum, we have a STICKIED poll for "how old are you?"
