Mac Epstein Theatre.........

Just back to my hotel, so quick review.......

Happy Mac appeared so was a pretty good show, sounded great in a great wee venue, but be warned if you don't like climbing stairs as there's four flights up to the venue......

Played the usual tunes and a few new ones which I have to say sound a hell of a lot better live than the demo versions on the pledge site....

The band tonight was Paul on keyboards, couple of girls on strings and Broudie on guitar althouugh "Big Mick" the child prodigy played guitar on a couple of tracks....

All in all a good night good to hear Mac on form, good banter and playing off Broudie quite well......

For those who want to know he was on stage at roughly 8.45pm and finished about 10.15, hope those who manage to catch him tomorrow or Saturday enjoy it as much.....

Fully agree, top show even though it was no where near sold out. The new songs sound great, can't wait to get the new album now. As Mac said tonight about all new tracks "this song is an instant classic" & "the best song I've ever written". Pro patria mori is class.

Agree the new stuff sounded really good, nice to see Mac relaxed and funny, During Walk On The Wildside in particular.

Thanks for the info Jimbo. Let's hope tonight's show is of similar quality. Going for a lie down now in anticipation of walking those stairs.

You'll certainly need to prepare yourself for the stairs..... Also there's a decent pub next door called "The Abbey" which does food and bar prices are alright......

Hope you have a good one mate..........

Great show last night, beautiful venue (and you could take your drink in!). I've seen Mac solo about half a dozen times and last night was up there with last year's cathedral gig. It was genius getting Broudie in on guitar but the whole line-up worked very well. Mac was in great spirits and commented on more than one occasion that it had been one of the best nights.

Nice mix of songs, Bunnymen (including Rescue, Zimbo, Horses, NLF, Killing Moon, Idolness of Gods, The Disease and the best Rust I've ever heard, and solos / covers (including Candleland, Fools Like Us, Arthur, Walk on the Wild Side and Somewhere) with (I think) three new ones. None of the Pledge previews or the YouTube stuff has done much for me but Mac seems to reckon Pro Patria Mori to be something of a classic and having heard it played live the man might well have a point. Lips Like Sugar sealed the night.

I wished I'd gone on Thursday as well. If London tonight comes anywhere close to this you're in for a cracker.

Thursday was very good.

Friday was absolutely BRILLIANT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Mac said it was one of the best nights of his life! The audience were respectful and 'into it' and so was Ian. New songs sounded very good.

There was a bit of a difference with both Thurs and Fri night to the norm because the audience cheered a lot for The Killing Moon and sang along but for NLF they were even more enthusiastic and on Friday night Ian stopped to let everyone sing it for him for a little bit and he looked very pleased and a bit emotional about the response...
I think everyone sang along loudly on Friday night!

Book signing was a treat too and the book is nicely presented.

Agree, Rust is splendid and even better live.

By book you mean that his biography is out finally? Good one if it is.

Btw nice to read so many positive things on here, I had all but given up on live shows all together, now I might reconsider.
