The feelgood Bunnymen thread

Postby Mr. Brian » Mon Apr 16, 2012 2:09 pm

I realize we at VT are very critical of the band at times but I think we get a bad rap for being too negative. It is easier to complain I suppose. We are fans in some capacity or we wouldn't even be here, so prove it.

Please state something positive about Echo & the Bunnymen or any related projects of members of the band past or present.

The rules*:

No complaints or negativity. All complaints or posts deemed as negative in this thread will be deleted. This includes sarcastic replies.
Stay on topic. Off topic replies will be deleted.

Just say something nice about the Bunnymen, past or present. I don't like using the delete function and rarely do, so don't make me use it!

I'll start.

It was great of the band to be able to do the Ocean Rain shows and I am glad I was able to see the one in NYC several years ago and meet some great people.

Ian's voice in the 80s was gorgeous and soaring, and Will's guitar perfectly complemented it.

All four boys were beautiful when they were young.

Mr. Brian isn't kidding. I was deleted.

I will echo Mr. Brian's sentiments:

Ocean Rain in New York was the greatest three day drunken adventure ever. Band was in amazing form, great venue and everyone I met were kind and a pleasure to hang and party with.

Oh and go go dancers gyrating to the Bunnymen for an hour? I couldn't get up the whole time cause...uh...my foot was asleep.

When they're on form they're still untouchable. No other band I've seen come remotely close to the heights of a live Ocean Rain, Do It Clean and Cutter. They changed everything.

Never before or since has there been six songs in a row better than:

"The Cutter"
"The Back of Love"
"My White Devil"
"Clay"
"Porcupine"
"Heads Will Roll"

And I can only think of the Pixies with four consecutive albums on par with the Bunnymen's first four.

I'm not a musician or poet and wouldn't know the first thing about writing a song, so I give them credit for cranking out what they do. There will never be a band like them again, ever.

Agreed! I heard Back of Love on Sirius radio this morning as a matter of fact.

Crocodiles, Heaven Up Here, Porcupine and Ocean Rain are the work of geniuses. Never will waver from that, until I die.

this one should go because what she's really saying is thaty after the 80s his voice isn't gorgeous and doesn't soar.

Request denied. She did not state any outright criticism.
