as in the old joke about the gorilla, or whatever kind of animal you prefer, goes into a bar, orders a whisky and the barman charges him a fiver, then says, "we dont get many gorillas in here", and the gorilla says, "i'm not suprised a these prices".

Not sure you needed that spelling out. but i'm a bit bored.

They are the original Gimmiemusic releases. Shame, one e-bayer managed to get for £150 for an original before. Was going to flog my copy but someone later tried to sell another copy and there were no bids. So, Peter Allen no longer sees himself as a Bunnymen fan, eh? Or is that he no longer buys/collects their music?

well you could read too much into it I suppose

could be the equivalent of 'new wife forces sale', but there again why would you need half a dozen copies of the same thing. Still, he may have got all disillusioned at his lack of status, never quite reaching the dizzying heights of a pete or even a peasy. that'd be worth hanging onto your collection of avalanches for.

I saw that and thought about getting one, but it didn't have the extra tracks. I usually double the GBP to convert to US dollars, and $40 is a bit steep for a cd that is missing the tracks I want. However, I've never been one to turn down a gift (hint, hint).

Yeah, but that is the original bona fide release. Gimmemusic, they were ahead of their time weren't they? Getting people to buy music over the interwebs, what a silly idea.

Yes but it was a disaster as I recall, very few were sold in the first offering due to technical issues. I was one of the lucky ones.

They were selling that version at December's Liverpool show at a fiver a go.

I have the version with the extra tracks and a really muddy version of Avalanche (Porcupine Records). Was the original a better recording of Avalanche? It's one of my favorite songs but it just sounds so bad.

Heh. This caught my eye too.

Used to be a avid Bunnymen collector but clearing out my collection.

Avalanche Gimme Music

Postby Tinsel Tears » Wed Mar 21, 2012 2:28 pm

I have the same one, the original was released under Gimme Music in 2000, been looking for that disc for a while now. I believe its the same recordings just re-issued in 2003 under Porcupine Records with bonus tracks.

I could be making this up but I wanna say Ivan said something about the reissue of Avalanche that the specific song was recorded in some half ass manner. Better use that search function.
