Mac in Mojo - on chris martin.....

Postby fat cherry » Sat Oct 29, 2011 9:00 am

..... and bono (natch)

Its an aside in a chrios martin interview:

Mac wrote:he's got this amazing naive wide-eyed quality that i hope he never loses, and he's got one of those voices.... when he sings, I just believe him. He asks for advice from time to time - 'Macko' he calls me. I told him to stop hopping, ditch the uniforms and steer clear of Bono. Bono kills bands!"

cant help it can he?

Chris gets advice from Mac? He also gets advice from Bono. Hmmm... "Macko or Bonio's advice?" ponders Chris as he sips a tall glass of fair trade guava, ugli, lychee and pomegranate fruit juice... "So that's another shit yet no 1 album. Thank you Mr Bonio" exclaims Chris.

But that's just Chris claiming to get Noel's advice to look cool, because everyone respects Noel now with a half decent no 1 album. Then Chris argues that Coldplay's nearest chart competitors are Justin Beiber and Adele, recording a song that sounds like Rihanna's Umbrella to keep up with the Beibers of the world, and then, guess what, actually records a duet with Rihanna for the new long player with a nonsensical title that he then says that he'll kill himself if the Coldplayranies don't like it. Then he says he wouldn't make his kids listen to his band's music and the new album will be their last, and Rihanna is all ugly and grumpy, and he likes Take That so much that he thought he was a gay. Apart from the comment about Rihanna, the guy has lost all sense of reality I tells you - as have I, having just read and typed various Chris Martin quotes.

I wonder when was the last time either of them saw or even spoke to each other. This sounds like a rehash of a quote that came out years ago. Imagine only being in demand to give meaningless (and recycled) advice to Chris Martin through a third party.

you alright ghostie? youre among friends here.

good point margins - can imagine martin saying, only met the bloke once and here he goes advising me again, and mac going, only met the bloke once and he drags that up etc. alternatively they may have dinner every time macko's inthe big city and larf over the hilarity of it all. I think i'd rrefer that version. tea macko? thanks gwynnie.

About seven or eight years ago Mac appeared on a national Canadian variety show called the "Mike Bullard Show". I think he actually was on twice over a span of a couple of years. As a fan I was thrilled but it's weird since 99.9 percent of Canadians don't know who the hell the bunnymen are let alone who mac is. You never hear their stuff on the radio.
Really Mac was only on the show cause he's damn funny when he wants to be. Mike Bullard ask mac about his friendship with chris martin and that he heard that Gwenth Patrow did'nt like him (Mac). Mac confirmed it and referred to her as literally "GP", which cracked up the crowd.
That's the same show he apparently used the word "snatch".

I don't get it.

I take it the 'snatch' and 'GP' references were unrelated?

Ya the use of "snatch" and "good old GP" were unrelated. I think he used "snatch" when the host gave him a quiz where the right answer to the question regarding an animal that builds dams (a beaver). Mac answer with "snatch".

Interview with Mac in the new issue Feb 2012
It wouldn't work if Mac was a slaphead would it.
