buns mention on the telly

Postby fat cherry » Wed Sep 21, 2011 2:41 pm

I was sure we had ancient thread of this title i was hoping to revive, but never mind. Anyways, I was watching some not very good american cop show (law and order maybe? no offence we have some not so good ones too) on telly last night and the two main cops are looking for some bloke who has obviously changed his identity and for some reason they think he might be working in some neighbouring precinct. The dialog goes a bit like this with the other cops:

Other cop 1: Hey, didn't we have a cleaner a bit like that guy
Other cop 2: Yeah, we used to call him bunnyman
Main cop: as in... the band?
Other Cop 1: Yeah, he used to repeat everything you said, like an echo.

tadaaaa.

Its quiet around here isn't it?

That seems like an obscure thing to throw into an American cop show

The writers tried really hard to fit that in, didn't they?

so I was watching the christmas/new year celebrity mastermind (minor aside - didn't know any of the celebs apart form Russel Kane but he's cut his masive quiff off so didn't recognise him)

http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b0 ... -episode-7

Anyway Kane gets five in his specialist round and ups it to 12 in the general knowledge, so a bright lad for sure. Anyways one of his general questions was 'which liverpool bands founder members included will sergeant, les pattinson, ian mcculloch and a drum machine' or something like that - i was busy interrupting with my vast knowldge of liverpool bands who had drum machines. Anyway he passes, what a numbskull, though obviously he wasn't even born then I guess. But when john humphreys told him the answer he pulled a really weird face as if to say, 'who? what? why would you call a band that?

Had to be there I suppose.

Well he's just gone down in my estimations, who the fuck is he again?

Why are you racist against bad American cop shows? Man I thought it was 2015!
With the Force as his ally he did battle with the Dark Lord. And he showed the measure of a true Jedi at a place called "The Death Star" where hope for the Galaxy was reborn. May all who struggle against tyranny hold his memory in their hearts

The Bunnymen have a cinematic quality, which is a really good fit for our show,” says “13 Reasons Why” creator Brian Yorkey, 46, who cites them as one of his all-time favorite groups since he was turned on to them by his older sisters back in the ’80s.

Obviously a career high but bunnymen were a question on the episode of 'Pointless' I watched tonight. For non-brits or anyone above watching complete nonesense, its a kind of quiz, but where they ask, allegedly, 100 members of the public some questions and the contestants have to answer the same - but they are questions with many answers - in this case these songs are all about dancing - and you have to get not just a right answer but one that none of the public have got. or at least with the lowest score. Still with me? Never mind. Anway it was - fill inthe blank, Echo and the Bunnymen: bring on the dancing [blank]. For reference another was Abba: [Blank] Queen. You see that one had 95 people getting it. Buns 3!! So you know a good score. The bloke [spoiler alert] got it wrong, said something like Girls. Computer said NO and it was an early bath for them. Righto, back to messing about.

A few years ago they were a question in the final which was ‘Top 40 singles by Echo & The Bunnymen’. I think I got 13 pointless answers.

Not sure if the same episode but Richard Osman did say some nice things about the Bunnies. Probably knows his music as his brother is / was in Suede.

Anyway back to messing about
