That old hoary chestnut setlist conundrum

Postby crystal89 » Wed Nov 03, 2010 12:20 pm

Ok, this has been hotly debated for years,
but I thought that I'd give it a go.
Songs that could be played live, Now The Cure, who have a back
catalogue more extensive than the bunnymen play
about 30-35 songs, and do at least one song from each album
at their concerts. The Bunnymen could do the following from each album,
over the same time period 90-100 minutes, cutting down
on Mac's waffling, and do about 20-25 songs.

Crocodiles: Rescue, Villiers Terrace, All That Jazz
Heaven Up Here: Show of Strength, Zimbo, Over The Wall
Porcupine: Back of love, Cutter, Heads Will Roll
Ocean Rain: Silver, Seven Seas, Killing Moon
Grey Album: Bedbugs & Ballyhoo, Lips like Sugar
Evergreen: Nothing Lasts forever, Just a Touch Away, I Want To Be there
WAYGTDWYL: Rust, Fools Like Us
Flowers: Flowers, An Eternity Turns
Siberia: Stormy Weather, In The Margins
The Fountain: I Think I need it too, The Fountain, Shroud of turin

b-sides: Do It Clean, Fish Hook Girl

that makes 25 songs in total,
and songs could be swapped around so you could have
I'll Fly tonight instead of I want to be there.

Absolutely, but Sgt fuzz would have to do a support
set beforehand, this could be around 8 to 10 songs
of his own work, with A Jaques Brel cover thrown in.

Mac solo stuff is banned, full stop.

Life's too short to listen to 30-35 Bob Smith songs in an evening.

On some parts i agree with you,
the "Old School" Three Imaginary boys
encore is a bit tiresome, and they have
a terrible drummer, at least A Bunny drummer
can actually hit properly, and doesn't resort to
loops and drum machines.

On the other hand old Bobbo has a much wider
collection of songs that people want to hear,
although like the bunnymen they are all from
the bands successful period of 85-93, but A Forest
is always good.

Not that Mac and Will aren't exactly skinny either.

Bobbo can play guitar better than the sarge, and can
still sing, rather than shout in varying tones like Mac,

but somehow the Bunnymen shade it everytime,
who knew thinking "whose that god awful band on
the Tv at Glastonbury (2005)" Would lead to such
utter mindless devotion.

Wash your mouth out with soap and water! And Fat Bob could never sing either.

Those have been some of the best nights of my life, I love the Cure as much as the Bunnymen

at least Bobbo's songs make some sense,
and he'd never let something as shit as Proxy
get released. But then again he did write a song
about a list, but he was very young, so he didn't know better.

A better guitarist than Will, debatable, a better instrumentalist
most certainly yes. Oh and the cure have a much better
publicity machine, no webmaster Peter allen holding them up,
just that shit drummer, and more frightening than Darth Vader
guitarist.

Gallup or Pattinson?

Peter Allen was a symptom, not a cause.
