Do we owe Mac and the boys a living?

Postby Dr Evil » Sun Mar 21, 2010 6:15 am

It was a lot of fun taking the piss out of Mac with my "Fountain of Vomit" version of their latest album cover. But after seeing a young and strong tigress of a singer recently, with her full band every bit as powerful as a youthful Mac-perhaps more so-I got to thinking...when age takes it's toll and she ends up a washed up old ho like Mac (though as a non-smoker she will last much longer) do we owe a living to people we once worshipped as living Gods/Goddesses? Should I buy The Fountain not because it's any good, but because we owe Mac and the other Bunnymen everything for making our youth magical?

well i hope she appreciated it when you told her that.....

short answer, no, and neither do they owe you anything, but generally thats what fans do isn't it? and something that labels, if not artists themselves exploits. exhibit A m'lud, new boxset of original albums by one Mr Echo and His Bunnymen, relesed by Warners (or similar). Here evils, youre not turning nto KOK are you?

Whether I like the material or not I will buy anything new the Bunnymen put out as a band or Mac or Will solo. They along with Danzig, Frank Black and a few others deserve that in my mind cause yeah they did make my youth that much better and in some cases flat out kept me going. Sure it is fun to crack a few jokes here and there but I don't think any of us would still be posting years later if we weren't deep down hoping the band recaptures that missing majesty one more time.
With the Force as his ally he did battle with the Dark Lord. And he showed the measure of a true Jedi at a place called "The Death Star" where hope for the Galaxy was reborn. May all who struggle against tyranny hold his memory in their hearts

That's one of my better qualities.

thats a good point. theres always the hope that you put this thing on and get whatever it was you got twenty or so years ago. and for me buns have always been slow burners so, who knows, in twenty years i'll be bashing on abuot how great that all the way from memphis song is, in an ironic kind of way, breathing new life into.... stuff,
