Is The Puppet being airbrushed out of Bunnymen history?

Whats wrong with The Puppet? OK, it wasnt as good as Do It Clean but its a great track.

Yet it hasnt appeared on a compilation since Songs To Learn & Sing. Also, when the Crocodiles album was reissued The Puppet was again missing.

What has everyone got against it?

Reinstate The Puppet into Bunnymen history now!
Mr. Brian, I find that offensive.

Scouser's inability to se others' point of view is rather grating.

Here Here, I do agree a great 3 minute pop classic....... !!!!!

I was at a Q&A years ago in Glasgow with Mac and someone asked about The Puppet, Mac slammed the track saying that both Will and himself hated it. He claimed it was written and recorded in a day to prevent Korova releasing Villiers Terrace as a single......

I really would love to hear it played live again, would be interesting to check how many times it actually has been played live.......

Yeah, The Puppet has always been one of my favorites. I think the first time I heard it was on "Urgh!".

On checking up, it looks like The Puppet was only played live about a dozen or so times at the end of 1980, seems to disappear from then onwards .....

I like the line from "Clay" (another lost classic):

Am I the "shall" in po-ten-tial
Or am I the "suck" in "cess"

Good song, classic. Why would it be fading away?

It has been played since the 80s though! When the Bunnymen did that acoustic set at HMV in London in 2005, Mac introduced the next song as "The Puppet" and Will played a few chords of the intro and then stopped before launching into the next song. Okay, it wasn't the whole song, but atleast there was a snippet.

I'm surprise they didn't reissue it as "The Snippet."
