Sydney Rescheduled/Brisbane Cancelled

Due to unforeseen circumstances, UK outfit ECHO & THE BUNNYMEN will be replaced by Melbourne deities THE DIRTY THREE at the Brisbane Laneway Festival event this Friday.
The same circumstances force the band to reschedule tonight’s Sydney performance at the Enmore Theatre to Tuesday 2 February at the Metro Theatre.

I think it's about (not) being able to fill seats. A little Googling shows the Metro has about half the capacity of the Enmore.

The Enmore is a Jane's Addicition/Pavement/Placebo/Killers-sized venue
The Metro is a RZA/Salt n Pepa/Yo La Tengo/Calexico-sized venue

Well, one things for sure, they'll put on a roaring show.

I knew my DIY skills and CD shelf hanging would lead to no good

I feel ashamed

I must now act like that mad albino monk out of the Da Vinci Code

By the way Mrs Moses bought the CD shelves in Argos

Hi Will, what's the significance of the "Hakes" prefix?

I wish Will were posting.

That sounds about right, the Sydney Metro Theatre holds 1500 people. They might be able to fill it.

What is ironic is that one of the two supporting bands is the Frightened Rabbit.

Hope they put on a good show for the fans down under.

I had (have) tix to the Enmore gig last night. I actually got a PHONE CALL in the afternoon advising me of the postponement so makes me wonder how many tix they sold - can't imagine them calling 2500 people. I had the choice to see Them Crooked Vultures and chose the Bunnymen.... so ended up listening to the flipin pub jukebox instead - marvellous. Anyway, mustn't grumble etc.

I second that. The whole is less than the sum of the parts.

My only interest in TCV was to see the world's greatest drummer up close. The other two are ring-ins IMHO. I've often wondered what it would take to get Dave Grohl to drum along with Mac and Will. But I digress.

Sydney gig

In a word, disappointed. I felt this was a lacklustre performance from the band and the crowd just didn't seem into it. Maybe coz the venue was only half full.... or maybe my expectations are too great after seeing them the last couple of times they came to Sydney when I was completely blown away by their shows. Chatting to a few people in the crowd, I was surprised at how many were first timers and didn't really know the songs well. So maybe that explains it.
Gotta love how Mac still wears his heavy coat on stage - it was 32 degrees that day.
