What made the Bunnymen special to me even though I'm a Londoner was there regional sense of identity andy thier unwilliness to compromise.
There current sound , strategy and marketing is all aimed at the USA market.
There is no Signature Bunnymen sound anymore

KOK, quit blaming the American market for EATB's problems. EATB gets more airplay on BBC Radio than it does on any terrestial station here unless they play the oldies. Aside from us fans here and BOF, they are irrelevant.
The band does not have a chance here. Whether it be mainstream Lady Gaga and Flaming Lips or more obscure Deerhunter, EATB are currently too bland and boring to make a dent in the United States.
The Scottish band Mogwai is more popular in the United States right now than Echo and The Bunnymen. The band would have to become creative and interesting to become popular here again - like they were during the 80s.

They are stuck in time. No marketing strategy is going to change that.
