Where's the Bunnymen Go Penguin?

Postby Voodoo Billy » Mon Dec 07, 2009 1:14 pm

Liverpool has been invaded by fibreglass penguins (in much the same vein as the recent superlambananas). Sadly, there doesn't seem to be a Bunnymen themed penguin in homage to the band's mid '80's followers which took the same name. Anyone know where the name came from, I'm pretty sure it was after Les' Seven Seas video performance?

Well that's a truly sad oversight. Les in a penguin suit is hilarious. Maybe all of the Liverpool fans can get together and put bunny ears on all of them. And maybe we can make iron-on t-shirts with the pic of Les in the penguin suit and wear them in protest. 3M makes something for iron-ons where you just print it from your printer and iron it on. Would it get on the news?

Can you post a pic of the penguins?

Can I have what he's smoking, dropping, drinking?
Every word is like an unnecessary stain on silence and nothingness.

I was right about the Penguins being the name chosen by the fans who followed the band in the mid to late '80's? I seem to remember that there were also Eskimos who followed The Mission at the same time. Or maybe my mind has finally gone.

The Liverpool Swimming Club called their team the Penguins.

Here is the Facebook page for people who want to see pictures of the penguin invasion. Just click on the photos tab. After looking at some of them, yes there really should have been an EATB one. Seems it was a community project from what I read and the ideas came from people.

The shield reminds me of the fish they used in Seven Seas and Dancing Horses.

I can vouch for that. There's a bit of (friendly) needle between them and the 3rd Battalion (British Sea Power)
