Enlighten Me VS. Bedbugs and BBC6 review Think I Need It Too

In the two songs, is it the same drumbeat?

Why do people like Bedbugs and Ballyhoo?
With the Force as his ally he did battle with the Dark Lord. And he showed the measure of a true Jedi at a place called "The Death Star" where hope for the Galaxy was reborn. May all who struggle against tyranny hold his memory in their hearts

It's almost as white hot as Stormy Weather and Parthenon Drive.

I like it because of the beat and the music. And the lyrics are so stupid I thought it was cool such a moody dark band was being insipid.

No I don't think it has any resemblence to Bedbugs & Ballyhoo.

I finally got to hear Reverberation in its full entirety the other day. Not bad an album at all. It kind of has the Bunnymen vibe in terms of the instrumental sound, but the songs sound different. Couple on there, Flaming Red and Freaks Dwell particularly that would now been regarded as Bunnymen classics if Mac had still be in the band.

On a not so much interesting note, BBC6 had a record review of Think I Need It Too tonight. It recieved 4 out of 10. One of the panel was Simon Raymonde of Cocteau Twins fame. He said that he had already heard The Fountain as he got a free copy advanced for possible release on his record label. He wasn't too flattering about it or the band really.

4 out of 10, how dare he? Not sure about the "Cocteau Twins fame", that's pushing it a bit!

Uh oh. You mean VT members aren't the only ones saying the song is boring?

Simon might not have "fame" but he was a definite contributor despite Fraser and Guthrie getting the spotlight.

Clearly it is not just VT forum members that have made the comments. Some of them were uncanny. The song generally wasn't well recieved. 4 out of 10. 6.5 out of 10 was the highest (for sounding like Neil Diamond, as one person had said on the chatroom).

Are they still shooting for a top 20 standing with their reworked product?

I can't remember.

I don't know now how they hope it'll do, but given the commercial sound of the song and its title, that was clearly in their minds. The whole album, I think it is the same hope.

He was a pretty good bassist for the band, but I'm not sure anyone even knows who the hell he is.

4 out of 10 might be a little harsh, I'd probably give it 6 out of 10, but just for the music in the background. The lyrics are actually OK until the God awful chorus kicks in, that pretty much ruins the song. The chorus is both horrible and forgettable all at the same time.

Didn't all their test marketing show this is the product people want to buy?
