Ocean Rain collectors edition

Postby happy_loss » Fri Jul 03, 2009 11:09 am

Is this worth getting for the 83 RAH show ?? I've got the video somewhere in storage, and it seems they included the songs (Simple Stuff for instance) that weren't included in the TV broadcast on the CD. How's the quality?

Come on you bastards, I ask a serious question for once, and on a board full of supposed Bunnymen fans can't get a single album review. Mr. Brian, delete everyone's account but my own, and yours of course.

I do not own the album so I can't give you an intelligent response.

Titties.
With the Force as his ally he did battle with the Dark Lord. And he showed the measure of a true Jedi at a place called "The Death Star" where hope for the Galaxy was reborn. May all who struggle against tyranny hold his memory in their hearts

First of all, I was the only one who made a comment. Though I am quite rotund, I do not believe I yet qualify to be referred to in the plural.

Secondly, I am not a bastard. I know my father (unfortunately).

Thirdly, I do not own the Collectors Edition. I was one of the many duped into buying the other remastered Ocean Rain a few years ago. If they'd sold the RAH tracks separately, maybe I'd bite... but I'm done being a sucker for opportunists.

Frank, you and BF have entertained me for hours, so the comment wasn't directed at either of you per se. I'm just surprised with the amount of replies I get from some of the nonsense I post, but when I post something serious, it usually just gets ignored. But I guess that's just the way of VT.

On a side note, if and when me and the family decide to return to the states, I'm fairly certain we're going to end up in your neck of the woods. If that's the case, we'll have to get together to discuss how are fave band has failed us so miserably.

I know that feeling.

Frank talks nothing but nonsense.

The meeting of minds could be billed "Are you happy Frank Lost his Bunny" A meeting of great minds - a critue of Echo and the Bunnymen 1980-1984

I'm a newbie when it comes to the Bunnymen, so I'll speak from my general experience when it comes to bands and their natural progression of rise and fall.

I would disagree that the Bunnymen failed us. They produced some wonderful music during their short reign in the 1980's, music that continues to entertain us when you listen to their studio albums and classic bootleg recordings. However, the combination of poor decisions, the usual personality disorders that afflict bands that have been around a while and the death of a band member ended that meteoric rise, marking the beginning of the end. It all essentially came to an end in 1988, never to be again. They succeeded in entertaining us during their rise to the peak. They are are on the slow downhill ride to becoming irrevalent. That's life. Like Ian sings "Nothing Lasts Forever". They are a spent force. They will never excite you as they had in the 80's. Thank them for what they have created and done for us. 4 or 5 years of great music is better than nothing.

Failed us? No. They just grew up and got old.

Nagoya, Japan! Van Halen played there on October 28, 1998 with Gary Cherone as lead vocalist. Great sounding bootleg!! Here's another example of what I'm talking about: the die hard Van Halen fan would say that by this point in their carreer they were just walking dead, a spent force, done without knowing it. The fans were also saying that Eddie had failed them miserably. And they are right. But I accept and enjoy it for what it is, always hoping they will make a come back, but knowing in my heart the best has already been. Not their fault.

Is this what you are talking about?

http://www.mechodownload.com/forum/worldwide-music-video/103376-echo-bunnymen-live-royal-albert-hall-1983-a.html

The DVD and CDs appear to have only 12 or 13 of that concerts songs, while the bootleg recording has like 20.

Yessir. If the bus had taken a left instead of a right coming out of the Greyhound terminal, it would've driven right by where I worked at the time.
