It's hard to read the rest of your post when you start off being a dick. Last time I checked no one here was the singer of an influential band who has a great back catalog of music.

So do I have to be as talented as Mac to give ANY kind of review, or is it just negative reviews? I'm asking because you seem to think you were qualified to render judgement.

I'm impressed that every record you dislike is one you could surpass yourself.

But all of that is true.

But for me it ends in - I forget the album ever came out a month or so later.

That's not true for all the new stuff, though.

Mr. Brian and Jack are out of line here. I fondly recall when I to deluded myself into thnking everything Mac touched was gold and when any criticism bwoke my tiny widdle heart.

With the Force as his ally he did battle with the Dark Lord. And he showed the measure of a true Jedi at a place called "The Death Star" where hope for the Galaxy was reborn. May all who struggle against tyranny hold his memory in their hearts

I actually do think I could produce Macs album better! What Woz is forgetting is that even great singers need producers.Self produced albums mostly come out a bit samey.

yeah we're forgetting we have a popstar in our midst. So would you actively confront him and say, "no mccullcoch, thats rubbish, get back and do it again, this time as if you mean it", or "must we really have another lyric about the f'ing stars [input accordingly, e.g., world spinning round etc] or would you wait til he's gone to the pub before putting a load of horns /strings/mellotron on he'd explicitly advised you against hoping it'd be sooooo good (or he'd be sooooo blotto) that he'd just assume he did it himself?

I must admit, even you lot that like this aren't selling it to me.

If you look at most self produced albums by singers in bands they have some great songs and ideas but really a producers job is very misunderstood. Its not telling someone the lyrics are crap or the music is rubbish its helping the artist to make the best sounding record they can.It may be suggesting speeding the song up,shortening, helping with melody .....just assisting the process.Btw where have I said the album is crap??Ive given it 7/10.Just want Mac to do a killer 10 out of ten.

I didn't say you did, I'm just thinking of potential scenarios for the future, a bit of blue sky brainstorming if you like. However I do like the cut of your jib, all that 'helping them to make the best album possible' is much more positive than the confrontational approach. I used to have a manager a bit like that and by the time he'd smarmed you half to death you really did think redoing everything you'd worked on for the last month was your own idea. You get my vote.

I apologize. I didn't realize I moved to a country where free speech and opinions that don't agree with yours aren't allowed. My bad. I'll be sure to put my burka on as soon as I finish typing this post.

to be honest i was pleasantly suprised by this album, favourites, the party's over, pro patria mori, somewhere in my dreams, empty as a house.

shooting stars, falling from a constellation
heading for no destination
shooting stars
that's what we are

shooting stars
falling from a constellation
beautiful disintergration

shooting stars is what we are....
love these lines, but they did make me think of dr brian cox of bbc's stargazing live fame.
8/10 for the album, worth the wait
