They need to start a new band. With a bass player and drummer as co-writers.

Playing a pizza joint where no one is listening. And doing Velvet Underground covers.

I just really thought about that for a few minutes.

I really enjoy listening to you guys have a serious discussion (sometimes) about something that means so much to you, like heartbroken lovers talking about a spouse that has long since passed on. True fans of the Bunnymen!

“They took the stage looking less like the strange and beautiful rock band they were than a bunch of overweight brickies.” Although I’m new to their music, that was my first impression upon seeing a picture of an unshaven, hair thinned Ian on stage at some venue taken within the last year or two. Never again to be that red lipped, lithe youth with a voice of silk. In this world they will forever be brickies.

However, that “sonic transformation” that is characteristic of the Bunnymen’s Eighties heyday has been captured in recordings you all and others so faithfully taped, held onto and now share with one another on this site. The magic is still there. Digital DNA waiting to be revived on the stereo. My trick is to reserve one special evening, down a stiff dose of tequila, shut my eyes and turn on the music to have an almost out of body experience as I dance to their poetry. With a good quality recording I am literally there standing before the stage. Just like young Ian with his love for Ziggy Stardust, I too experience what I feel is like astral projection. That’s why I sometimes become desperate for new recordings, hoping to feel that way again and again. In that reality, Ian, Will, Les and Pete are still in their twenties and going strong.

My mind is grooving on the music, but my liver is cursing me for another night of excess.

I'm think I'm following you...so you are thinking that Mac should grow some really cool sideburns?

I think (and withahip will correct me if I'm wrong) that, once again, we have proven that it all comes down to capes.

Thing about Fat Elvis - He was playing sold-out shows in arenas and Vegas... and Mac's playing pizza joints and barbeque shacks.

And fat Elvis' voice was still nothing short of a miracle.
With the Force as his ally he did battle with the Dark Lord. And he showed the measure of a true Jedi at a place called "The Death Star" where hope for the Galaxy was reborn. May all who struggle against tyranny hold his memory in their hearts

Lets have some perspective-Mac was asked by the owner to play some gigs.Which he did to rave reviews and both gigs were great. Both gigs had different setlists including Angels and Devils in the second set to keep the 'they should play b-sides' crew happy.Ok not the best environment but being as the table tickets were bought in person at the venue only-blame the 'I wanna be cool' scouse tossers.
