Would it have been better if Mac had died after Ocean Rain?

General discussion about the band, live shows, its recordings or bootlegs, etc. You can buy, sell or trade here. You can even post eBay links. If it's about the Bunnymen, it goes here.

Although it makes me quite sad how far one of my heroes has fallen........this thread is a bit fucked up.

I think many of us are suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder as a result of how bad things have gotten.

Most days I just pretend everything after Evergreen never happened.

What is this Evergreen of which you speak?
With the Force as his ally he did battle with the Dark Lord. And he showed the measure of a true Jedi at a place called "The Death Star" where hope for the Galaxy was reborn. May all who struggle against tyranny hold his memory in their hearts

It's a bit old as well. How comes a two-year old thread has been started again? Makes me want to re-start up the "Bunnymen photos link" or "Forum Name" 2007 threads just for the fun of it.

No, he didn't.
I laughed a bit but didn't laugh out loud.
Seeing as there's no 'slight giggle' emoticon, I decided to go for 'big grin', but that three times, in order to hopefully convey that I more than grinned, but not like The Joker, whilST not laughing out loud in a big belly-jiggle kind of way.
I hope you understand.

Maybe a little jealousy talking from you old geezers. As long as he's still getting 20something girlyfriends, he's still glamourous. Nix the smoking and drink, and he's got another 10-15 good years left.

Mac still glam?? cough cough. :vomit: I'll take singer in a Seattke grunge band over Mac. Ew! No accounting for the bad taste of some women. He ain't what he used to be.

FLowers had great Will but the vocals were shit. I finally am going to listen to that Evergreen bootleg of the demo versions. Can't wait. But without Les, I have to say I don't much want to listen.

While this thread explores new lows, musicians who die do become the stuff of legends and I think all we really want is that our once favorite band be put to pasture respectfully rather than slaughtered and turned to glue before our eyes. We want to like them still but they make it so hard now.

Think of how genius the Doors are. Nirvana still gets airplay and kudos.

I really think Will is going to make a great second life for himself as an artist. Mac doesn[t seem to have a backup plan.

Isn't it premature to be talking about the pasture??? Great musicians keep the music going, thinking of Neil Young in particular. Mac just needs to make it through the looking glass into the world of middle age.

And there's no grunge like finely aged and ripened grunge.

Flannel is sexy. Eddie Vedder is still hot.

I think this is the right look thought the wrong music since they are considered to be more experimental, Sometimes they get a little bit grungy and prog rock:

THat's great musicians. I know some think Mac is great, but the real greatness was in the 80s for his voice.

no the greatness was the fact that he was one of four blokes in a great band. more than the sum of the parts and all that. If he'd have snuffed it we'd all be moaning that the journos say what they like about our chap (probably still do) and poor candy and mimi probably wouldn't exist, though lorraine may have married morrissey and they'd be here in some form but with even dafter names.

FC is dead on mark about the magical sum of the parts, what a combination!

But for the VT record, let it hereby be known by everyone who couldn't give a toss, that I DO think that Mac is a Great Musician - that is songwriter and singer and performer, right up there with the best, all by his ownsome. At least that makes two of us, me and Mac.

Oh the whippersnapper flannel boys above don't look too impressive. Maybe heavy black coats would help.

That point is debatable, at least if you asked Morrisey

Yes, it was the sum of the parts being greater than the whole. I love those whippersnapper flannel boys and their silly video, but for the ultimate cool, who could beat:
