In these days of the interwebs, giving people a few snippets of demos doesn't quite cut the mustard especially when many bands now stream the whole damn album. Is there really nothing on there of any quality, say something along the lines of Arthur, Kansas or Stake Your Claim, which while not ace, were alright songs. The stuff on youtubes is piss poor and probably not helped by the recording. Somewhere In My Dreams. Somewhere not in my ears more like.

I like a couple of the songs alright. I wouldn't say the album is horrible or bad, although I kinda wish it was other than just meh.

Fiery Flame, Lift Me Up and Different Trees are decent I guess. The biggest surprise is how bad the title track sounds to me after hearing how good it was live.

Yes I thought it was more like Candleland and WAYG than anything else....

I don't think it is Neil Diamondish at all (I thought WAYG was more ND )

I don't agree about the Hall & Oats comparison ...I would say it is more 'real' than
their stuff (not that I am an expert on them!!) ....

So don't be put off by those comparisons but if you don't like Mac's previous solo
work then I don't think you will like the new one either.

I agree, although the flip side is "if you did like it, you'll still be disappointed".

It's been out for 24 hours, I'm not disappointed in the slightest.

I like it in the main, possibly a bit over produced in places, in the same way as the title track from The Fountain, which is a really good song acoustically.

Yeah its more Candleland. Actually more like Candleland b-sides, with horrible lyrics. I never expect much musically from Mac's solo stuff but he at least he wrote great lyrics. This album set of lyrics are by far the worst he has ever pinned. Its like he's turning into Chris Martin. So disappointing.

And the Diamond isn't weak, even when he goes a bit cheesy there's an undercurrent of sadness especially in his voice, and as for songwwriting - how he shoves in an odd minor chord at the end of the first verse - about 1:16. brillinat.

Candleland II - agreed, over produced?... I thought it sounded kind of cheaply produced in places. I'm more in favour of production.

Perhaps more over tinkered with than produced. The title track in particular.

Listening to it now, I can see what you mean... It was fine the way he did it live.

It's a grower.....

Really like the choir boy voice on PPM now...it gets in your head and stays there!

Weakest track Fiery Flame I think at the moment....

Love the raindrop on the sun line Killer teens on tv screens, they're bringing back the guillotine and on Me and DB how to wear my overcoat so cool that I could freeze the sun but what does he say fingers pulled on my ???? what? can't make that out...
