The Trabendo. Five years, that's a long time.

Don't think they sold it out, though, and it's a 700-seater. They cancelled the Paris gig on one of the earlier tours (Flowers?), too.

Perhaps ticket sales have been the reason that they bypassed France in recent years. I have no clue about the Bunnymen's popularity in France and gigs might be more of interest to the older French punter, but my past experience when I was in my 20s chatting to French people pretty much into their music (moreso French artists) was that nobody had heard of them.

Dunno. I saw a fairly youngish local musician play a cover of "Ocean Rain" a couple of years ago. Bernard Lenoir, France's answer to John Peel, is a fan and so is the editor of Les Inrockuptibles magazine. Libération newspaper ran an interview with Mac in 2005, I think.

Brixrtron?Did you disappear into a 'cyber reggae ghetto virtual existence ' with a cryogenically mutated youthful face based on yourself from 20 years ago just to ask the hypothetically chaosed quantum question?

Nouvelle Vague. Their fans seem to cheer when Mac was introduced on stage to sing their cover of Zimbo last year at the Bouffes du Nord. Unless it was more of a "yeah, who is he? Yeah let's cheer anyway" moment. Thinking about it, I think if I had been there I would have been too busy watching Mélanie Pain to give a frig about the appearance of Mac or them doing a cover of a Bunnymen song and I'm English.

Perhaps I should have stuck her in the sexy ladys of the music world thread.

Yeah
Great gig, by the way. Although Mac arrived at the venue with 1 hour delay...

Says a lot, really. The French adore Jerry Lewis, but don't 'get' the Bunnymen.

My experience is that British bands don't figure much in French music interests. I am always though in awe of French people who are fans of British indie bands or similar, even if they come from other countries. At least they make an effort to look beyond French language folk-type or soft rock music with the obligatory accordion included. Much French music is pretty shocking though in my opinion. The current French no 1 and no 3 is shockingly bad. A mole called Rene that looks more like a beaver and makes farting noises. I know it's christmas, but are they having a laff? I believe Rene the Mole's bastard creators had something to do with Crazy Frog as well.

The album charts are just as bad. Even Vanessa Paradis is still in there some where. No stripey see through top though, which is a shame.

Oh, it's a mole. I thought we were going to get some footage of a well-groomed French beaver.

Well-groomed beavers in France... you'll be lucky.

Perhaps it says that Bunnymen management is a bit crap at publicity?

Bunnymen management's crap publicity knows no borders. It's an international malaise.
