I'm hoping his tongue was in his cheek!

As for not going - a midweek trip down to that London was always going to be a non starter and I simply don't want to see them in a huge barn i.e. the Echo Arena.
Apart from that I'm just a bit jaded as far as live Bunnymen are concerned so I'm giving myself a break from them but I'll probably make an appearance if they tour the new album. Huge sighs of relief all round.

Doing Ocean Rain complete, wherever it was peformed, was always going to be an event worth going to, but I had stopped seeing the band live in 2003 other than an out of the ordinary acoustic set at HMV in London in 2005 that included a meet the band/signing thing. Completely different to anything else I'd been to with Mac even playing guitar. A new album in 2009 with more of the songs from The Fountain in that set + a few fresh songs added from Ocean Rain would probably be enough to get my interest for another attendance. OR last night was my sixth Bunnymen gig since 1998 and maybe the last if it remains the same old greatest hits tour next year. Not that one less person is going to make much of a difference to change the setlist.

Incidentally, I didn't notice anyone walk out as such during the Greatest Hits set, but our row did have a chap who decided to go to the toilet midway, meaning everyone had to stand-up and let him pass, probably to the annoyance of the people behind us. Probably also looked like a mini Mexican wave complete with a line of people in two rows all tutting in unison.

I don't necessarily agree with that, I don't think the current band line-up is subtle enough to do it justice. However as I didn't attend I can't confirm or refute my suspicions.

I wouldnt pay much attention to Dave, if the Bunnymen performed the phonebook backed by a full orchestra he would go and claim it was brilliant. He'd moan for weeks about going mind you.
Mr. Brian, I find that offensive.

Scouser's inability to se others' point of view is rather grating.

Well all I can say absent bloggers is that you missed the best .As for the 'rose tinted specs' I wear you all know if I think a gig is crap I say so.The OR set was fantastic and wont be bettered. You should go to Liverpool and take a chance.Or go to Mama Mia and get more pleasure out of sarcasticly laying into a band you supposedly like.

Not neccessarily. A DVD of the gig is likely in 2009, given that it was being filmed. My hope is that they will release it with The Fountain. So they will be able to watch it in the comfort of their own homes at possibly less than half of the ticket price.

Has Mama Mia got a full orchestra?

Wow. Hey Darren and Barry, make sure the recording (video/audio/both) is released sooner than later. Okay? Thanks.
