A must have for all you budding Sergeantians

General discussion about the band, live shows, its recordings or bootlegs, etc. You can buy, sell or trade here. You can even post eBay links. If it's about the Bunnymen, it goes here.

I hope you look into filing a fraud claim with ebay and paypal. If this is how they've decided to make a living, it's pathetic.

The auction itself doesn't actually say it's Will's guitar. However, it nevers says it isn't. Given Will's a guitarist who owns many guitars and has sold at least one on ebay before (that he really did own), it is reasonable to infer that this particular guitar is his. And they won't even ship it to you.

You've essentially paid $1800 for Will's signature (assuming he'll sign it for you). This is just terrible.

The wording on the multiple facebook posts listing the auction is

"Win yourself Will Sergeant's black fender guitar which he played on the 2010 / 2011 UK & USA Crocodiles & Heaven Up Here tours."

To me that infers it is one of Will's personal guitars that he actually owned. A guitar he borrowed and returned just wouldn't feel as special to me.

This is like the time when I won that auction for Jarvis Cocker's underwear and I discovered the skid marks belonged to someone else.

I'm sure he reads this forum too, if so....give a refund.

Thank you, Crystal Days. BF and I were talking about how people use others to their advantage and this is a prime case of it. How much more can they do? Even to fans.

In the Margins, I own a couple of Will's original paintings which have his sig and a few other things that were signed along the way. I read that auction a hundred times this morning and no, it is not specific. It leaves you to read between the lines but you wouldn't know otherwise. HOWEVER, on the Poltergeist page they have a link up that says it's his guitar. Thinking about what Dave wrote, I still bid on it because it was confirmed there. Either way, it's still not his previous or current.

Does this link work? https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid ... =1&theater

There are 2 steps that I have to go through for Paypal claims. Going through the first one right now. It will take a while. I am blown away that he knows it's not Will's, I now know as well yet he's still fighting it. Speechless.

This is blatant misrepresentation. If it was clear it was Pete Byrne's guitar that Will used a few times after Les spray painted it, it wouldn't have fetched such a high price. The ebay auction does not say it was Will's, yet the facebook posts (assumingly posted with Will's knowledge) do. Unbelievable.

I've not bought anything from this band or individual members in many years. Stuff like this makes me glad I'm no longer supporting them.

Be sure to print out these web pages that say it's Will's guitar. You might need them as evidence. GOOD LUCK!

eBay are usually very much on the side of the buyer and I would be amazed if a full refund isn't given.

Hope you get your money back too, but my experience with e-bay is that people can get very carried away when bidding, even when someone chips in warning that it's overpriced which normally you wouldn't get. Amazed how easy it is to sell used stuff on there and get close to the RRP new, including a pair of underpants worn by a "Jarvis Cocker". Real piece of history that was.

Thank you CD and Ghostie. I completely agree on the bidding and hopefully they will side with me somewhere down the line. I also think that a personal item (or what should have been personal!!) could go for a bit depending on how someone feels about it vs what it may retail for. Good points made above by the value going up with the sig as well but in reality, this thing is really no different from the equipment that bands rent while on tour in other countries when they can't tote around all their own pieces.

I think I'm most blown away that Pete/ex(?)-Bunnymen mgmt didn't even care if the band lost a fan/supporter who still went to the shows, spent money in the pledge things, bought art, etc. He was only concerned with what he could get out of his transaction While using a band member's association with the piece. I'm sure it never occured to him that it would end up like this. Glad this exposed him in such a truthful way. If he has no remorse in doing this to people who actually help his salary, what is he/they doing to the band members? Oh Ian left them, that's right.

I really wish Will would get back to doing his art. It is still in the creative realm, the LA exhibition alone was brilliant (had more people there than a Poltergeist show) and there was NO management involved to f*ck it up. It is completely independent of all that bullshit.

I woke up to a warm and apologetic mail from Pete today.

Yeah riiiiiight!! ... on part of that. I did get a 3 sentence mail which was quite cold that said there was no intention to shaft anyone, the eBay item description still stood valid, the FB post could have been worded better and that he would refund the money later today. Fingers crossed.

I'm not surprised by the insincere mail, even after paying $2,000 for something not as described, but am quite disappointed that someone else may not really know that this isn't from Will's personal collection. In all defense of the model, as In The Margins said, it really could be his for a few reasons. Dying to know how the COA that they're offering reads.

Dave, I like the MIM guitars too. The tele that I have is a '72 reissue thinline (sunburst).

Mr. Brian, the item will still not ship!

Really disappointed with those guys re: giving a load of grief because they couldn't be bothered doing paperwork for shipping originally then to find out they're giving dodgy details on the item in question. They should be embarrassed.
