Didn't you know Mac always was Echo and The Bunnymen, I'm sure the other three were just along to make the tea.

Oh well, this is just another Mac solo record indeed.

I wish he'd realise that bigging-up his own contribution isn't really endearing him to hardcore Bunnymen fans who are basically those buying their output these days. That's why the Bunnymen were special for me, together they were so much more as a unit than they were individually, it wasn't just Mac with a guitarist, bassist and drummer, they were all so bloody special and when it all clicked there was no-one who could get anywhere near close to them.

Rant over.

I have always thought how great it would be if Les came back and they wrote some songs together like they used to, but I have accepted that it will never happen. I don't blame Les at all, it must be a nightmare working with Ian. Oh well. We still have their 1st 5 albums. Hopefully Poltergeist will do some more stuff too....Love that album

Well said Billy. Back in the day it felt like they were four against the rest of the world. It's a sad state that they're in now.
With the Force as his ally he did battle with the Dark Lord. And he showed the measure of a true Jedi at a place called "The Death Star" where hope for the Galaxy was reborn. May all who struggle against tyranny hold his memory in their hearts

yeah, he promoted the band whilst the others were making tea. without his gobbyshiteness many wouldn't know.care who the band were. i remember reading something where someone went to interview will, les and pete and they acted as though he had no place there and then mac, who was off doing something else, turned up later and had to do the interview 'cos the others wouldn't promote the band. all of this anti-mac-pro-will stuff is spot on. without mac the band would have been the best garage band of the 80s! although i'm sure the neighbours would have complained after a while.

Actually I was being sarcastic but never mind.

I get that Mac was the main face and mouthpiece of the band but what I object to is Mac now seemingly airbrushing the others out of the equation and basically implying he came up with everything himself.

Not being anti-Mac at all. Bought every single thing he's ever released and really enjoyed most of it but Mac solo is Mac solo, surely there was / is / should be a different dynamic where the Bunnymen are concerned?

I knew I had discovered the new sound for the Bunnymen.
The sound which I would fall asleep to, dream to, and wake up to.
The sound I’d been waiting for for so long.
The sound of Meteoric storms.

I get the bit about falling asleep to it.

Sadly, you wouldn't have another Bunnymen record if Mac didn't write it. The obvious, there's only two left and one is off doing this own thing then complaining after just like how someone wrote in the other post on this thread.

The Pledge effort that doesn't even have 1,000 pledgers worldwide is in shambles and I liked the 'we don't want to be on a record label' thing (came from Will) then they turn up on 429 Records (?), a division of some other unknown label run by this guy: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steve_Vining
You can't make this stuff up. They are running out of options. My money is on the next album (please stop after this one) coming from somewhere in Sri Lanka.

Which makes it a Mac solo album in all but name and I've never been a fan of his solo work, the "Bunnymen" don't exist any more (they haven't for a while actually) it's just Mac with Will playing a bit of guitar over Mac's songs. It's sad really.

Great points, Dr. Cheese, but doing the new album per say gives them something to ride off of for a new tour, etc, even though it will be mostly the same songs with the addition of a couple new ones.

On a personal note, I still play Candleland (more so) and Mysterio on occasion. They are old though. To be honest, I never listen to Will's stuff. As I say, and it's only my taste, the Glide project and so on is not really as accessible as the other music and it's rare that I'm in the right mood to give it a whirl.
