It was a few weeks ago after the samples for The Fountain were put up on Myspace with little praise for the songs. The words "irrelevant" weren't used, but it was said that the band were a product and had to release music that would supposedly appeal to the masses and not the obssessive fan who might want a "darker" sound. I think we all had a moan afterwards.

While I thought it was a good idea to release the Ocean Rain Live performance on CD or DVD, I haven't been interested in owning a copy. The whole experience of listening to the original is hearing Mac using his vocals to full effect on that album, the types of instruments and the way it was recorded. Hearing it re-recorded on CD in its full entirety would spoil it for me. Besides, I really can't stand the live version of Ocean Rain. The version on the original album was done perfectly.

I haven't played my copy. No interest in doing so after seeing the youtube posts. But I am glad I was able to throw a little money the band's way - something they seem to desperately need - and having them sign the DVD case was nice.

I think the A Crystal Day performance of Ocean Rain might be better than the album recording. Same arrangements, but that live performance has so much power and emotion in it.

I haven't heard the Crystal Days performance. I need to hear that!

I also quite like the one on The Tube that is/was on You Tube (Dr Cheese??). Much helped by Mac dumping the acoustic guitar when he realises it is out of tune. Just the bass and drums until Will kicks in with his guitar solo bits.

I think the bonus live tracks on the Ocean Rain 25th Anniv. are from that show. (Could be mistaken.)

It is. My mistake.

I have heard it and don't like that version either. Ocean Rain and My Kingdom are the two songs off the OR album that I have never really liked hearing "live" on CD.

the peel session version's amusing if nothing else. cracks on about 100 miles an hour with a beat and feel that wouldn't be out of place on a maverick's album, apart from the superb lo-fi production, obviously. somebody posted the entire peel sessions here I htink. worth a listen.

Ocean Rain on speed, I think might be apt for the Peel Sessions version. Nocturnal Me isn't that much different to the album version. But when I first heard the version of Seven Seas, all I could think of was coconuts and hula hula girls. My Kingdom was a bit limp as well.

Coconuts and hula girls make you limp?

Fat Hula hula girls certainly do nothing for me. You know the ones that look like they have a tub of lard strapped to their waists, bulging flabby "girls" shaking left to right.

Coconuts certainly make me limp. Not my kind of thing I'm afraid. I do get turned on by kiwifruit, however. The kiwifruit is also known as the "hairy bush fruit".

With the Force as his ally he did battle with the Dark Lord. And he showed the measure of a true Jedi at a place called "The Death Star" where hope for the Galaxy was reborn. May all who struggle against tyranny hold his memory in their hearts
